I'm a very tactile shopper too. That's why I haven't bought much fabric online; well, that and the fact that I'm afraid I won't get the right color. For items that aren't on sale/must-buy-now, swatches are a good bet. Otherwise, like kamikat said, stick with stuff you know.
That looks like the perfect thing to request for Christmas!
That reminds me, I have this Page-A-Day shoe calendar (for 2008) and it's splendid. Obviously, there are many photos of modern shoes, but there are lots of gorgeous vintage and historical shoes too.
Yum - fudge! One of my favorites! I'll be making some soon; I'll share the recipe then.
I also found the trick to getting it really creamy some years ago, when I had what I thought was a disaster on my hands: the fudge started crumbling and looked incredibly dried out after I beat it. The...
See, *those* are nice-looking. Not in a glamourous, evening dress way, but in a practical outdoorsy way. IIRC, the actress in the 1930s version of King Solomon's Mines may have worn culottes. (That, or a split skirt...I haven't sat down and watched the whole thing yet.)
Now, the modern...
That's my hope - that they're just chopping up the 80s stuff! But I fear for some of the nice 60s outfits.
(Though I guess in 2030, everyone will be horrified because we destroyed all the "good" 80s-90s vintage!)
Oh boy! I can *totally* relate to that statement. lol
I often part my hair on one side, but I didn't have the hairdresser cut it that way - mainly because I don't *always* wear it like that. It doesn't matter that much to me; but then, my hair comes past my shoulders.
But they're vintage...see? That means they've GOT to be in good taste!
(But then, the vintage culottes look a little better than some modern culottes.)
Grrrr... :rage:
Etsy is a neat place, but it also makes my blood pressure skyrocket sometimes. What people will do to old books, patterns, and other papers is quite maddening.
One of the old mysteries I've been reading has a passage where a crooked lawyer tries to trap his visitors into staying longer and spilling information by serving them his superb Hot Buttered Rums. :)
I can haz hat! My very first vintage hat purchase, ever. :) I'm not even quite sure if it fits me, but it was at the thrift store right before Halloween, and I wanted to make sure it didn't end up with feathers glued all over it or something. And, it was pretty. :)
Now I just...
Yup. One of my favorite thrift stores suddenly added a rack with a "Vintage" sign stuck on top. It was very hard to tell the difference between the 80s sequin tops on the "Vintage" rack and the 80s stuff everywhere else! Thankfully, it disappeared shortly after. I think they gave up on...
