I think the combo works perfectly, JupitersDarling. Vintage Betty has good tips on the buttons. Any extra little details like hand-worked buttonholes or bound buttonholes would be great, too.
I've noticed that I don't like certain types of garments when they're not worn with a vintage...
I've been getting a kick out of watching Adam-12, where the cops themselves have to stop at a real phone to dial headquarters. :) There are still a few pay phones around here, but not a lot. And certainly no telephone *booths*. On the one hand, I welcome cell phones - no germy receivers, no...
For this, I refer you to your own signature line. ;) :D
If you *do* find a pill, let me know! I'm working on the whole proper-presentation-of-myself thing, too. I'm sure a Public Speaking/Toastmasters thing would help. (Unfortunately, however, most of these seem to involve standing up and...
Good for you. Wish you had another range to go to! As it is, maybe they'll wise up. It's sad, but it seems as if in today's world a woman who shows any interest in shooting is an anomaly. I would've thought a range would have more sense, though.
I haven't the foggiest. :D I bought them along with some other sewing supplies at an estate sale. These are pretty, but I'm not terribly fond of long lines of pearl buttons (80s-early 90s flashbacks, I suppose). I may use them in sets of two or three as accents.
I believe a number of ranges have certain rules whereby if you're not a member, you have to come with another person, or bring your own gun, because some people *have* committed suicide that way. It being the post-holiday season, they might be a little more on edge.
If that was the policy...
Smart! I'll have to remember that - thanks. I have a lightbox I can use for the heavier stuff, too - such as blank white notecards (my mortal enemy). Once rather recently, after trashing a card that *had* to be neat and pretty, I resorted to a fine mechanical pencil and gridded ruler, making...
That would be me. :)
The single largest problem I have with writing anything by hand is getting the stupid lines straight. :eusa_doh: Plagued me when I was a kid; the only reason it doesn't plague me now is because I type. There is no greater terror than trying to write on a blank, white...
Good point. The item may be a steal, but if it's a small object and the seller wants to ship it via one of the higher-priced methods...why bother?
Of course, I haven't been buying on Ebay since they changed their policy on checks and money orders.
That's the point I was trying to make: she, herself, is confused. Given that she mentions watching "Mad Men" as part of her initial fascination with the stereotypes of the 50s-60s, I don't think she's at the point where she *can* form a definite opinion.
I do believe you're referring to me...and you're quite right. :o (In my defense, it was late night/early morning, I was tired, and I didn't quite get it, nor did I convey my thoughts properly. Remind me not to do much analytical work at midnight!) I went back and re-read the article today...
Oops, so maybe they weren't exact. Or anything close. :o I remembered quite wrong! Here they are:
Unfortunately, the previous owner cut off the excess cardboard backing, as you can see. So I have no clue as to the maker. You can see leaves & branches on the backing, but the reverse...
:offtopic:
Makes you wonder, doesn't it: what would people would say about the early 2000's (er, "noughties"?) fifty years from now? If you sat down and read a stack of fashion magazines from 2008, you'd come away thinking all women were anorexically skinny (though mysteriously, diet pills and...
Say, weren't we discussing why newspapers aren't selling? :p
I'm still not quite sure what she's trying to say. Is she scorning the idea of admiring the 50s and 60s, as her last line implies? Is she a little wistful for those days herself? Or has she not decided yet? I'm inclined to...
I have some buttons that look very similar to these, only in off-white. I'll try to put up pictures; I wasn't sure if they were vintage or not. What period would you date yours to?
Goldfish, those buttons are stunning!
