Hey, I have that book! *grabs it from shelf* You should be able to tell when it arrives. Mine says "Revised 1949" below the copyright date. Either way, I like it. :)
What she said! There's dandyism, of course, which shows up in every category from vintage to modern hip-hop. But overall it shows maturity when a guy pays attention to how he looks. Grabbing the last T-shirt in your closet kinda screams "I played video games 'til 3 in the morning and don't...
Where are you measuring your hips? I was measuring mine at the fullest part, around 9-10" down, but then realized the 30s-40s patterns I was buying measured at 7" down. What a relief when I figured out I wasn't actually two sizes apart on my top and bottom half! lol
Oops, didn't realize it...
So many cute shoes! *drools shamelessly*
One thing I've noticed with a lot of vintage-look (as opposed to repro) shoes is how low the vamp is compared to true vintage. Seems like whenever I see a cute vintagey shoe and try it on, the vamp scoops far too low, showing the ends of my toes and...
I've definitely encountered the problem with modern patterns, but I would think a vintage pattern would be closer to the listed measurements.
Sometimes, overfitting can cause weird pouching and straining. Maybe you just needed to take in the waist, and you took in the hips too much? Or...
Y'know, it's funny, but I think if I had to give up one source, I'd rather give up TV news. I rarely, rarely watch it; it's too repetitive, and not in depth at all. Online video I like, but without too much talking from the newscasters. I can read the commentary, then watch the video. :)
Well, I'm under 30, and I *do* read the paper, though I don't buy it. If I lived on my own, I think I might subscribe, but mainly for state & local news, not national & international. The national & international stuff is mainly pulled from the same sources (AP, Reuters, etc.), and I can read...
Hey, sometimes you have to take what you can get. :)
I'm interested in hearing more about this elastic. Do you mean the material itself is stretchy, which would be a Lycra (elastane) blend?
Hot water, lemon juice, and honey. Or lemon tea and honey. At least, that's what we use to help soothe sore throats. I'm not sure how vintage the "lemon" part is, though; only people in certain climates would be able to get lemons in winter.
That's probably because it asked for the fabric to be laid down in a particular way. Or, you flipped the pattern pieces. It looks really nice, though! I don't see all the problems you're talking about. :)
And hey, I think I recognize those buttons! I wanted to buy them. :D
It is indeed. :( I was watching White Christmas again recently, and it's almost painful to watch her, she's so unhealthily thin.
I have to say, I like all the *color* in White Christmas, but I much prefer watching Holiday Inn.
See, you really can find anything on Ebay. :)
It's to be expected, really. It would be hard for any family - especially one this extended - to agree on everything and be perfectly harmonious.
Oddly enough, it's often the lower-priced lines by a designer that are emblazoned with labels. The higher-end stuff is just clothing; the lower-end stuff is "TOMMY HILFIGER!!! DKNY!!! Look at me, I spent $50 on a T-shirt because I can't afford the real stuff!!!"
Tomasso, that suiting NEEDS...
