    What are you wearing today??

To share the limelight with Fleur is both a duty and an honour; that you are a fellow Chap reader makes it a perfect pleasure! Thank you for your kind comments all; since it isn't one of my favourite suits but just one I picked up cheaply (£4!) whilst at university to wear under a gown to...

    What are you wearing today??

Going to church: Giving my new T.M. Lewin detachable collar shirt its first airing, paired with a modernsilk tie, 1950s(?) Co-op suit, silver half hunter watch and chain, etc. I rather like the shirt - it is a pink on pink check. Sleeves are on the long side, unfortunately, so...

    Sock Garters

I also favour them, although it has been some time since I wore a pair. Having experimented with the various versions available in the UK I would recommend buying Thurston's garters from Bromley's (the white edged ones for preference.) They are by far the most comfortable that I have found. I...

    Watch Chains

That is how I tend to wear mine, though I have a fob on mine, which is on display. It was not uncommon for Victorian watch chains to have a bar which also doubled as a watch key or had some other useful function, which may also go to explain why they were worn outside the waistcoat.

Can anyone tell me anything about the brand "Ace"/"American Classics"?

I'm watching an auction for a hat of the above description - the description states that it is vintage but it looks rather too new from the look of the lettering on the sweatband, making me wonder if it is a modern make. I did look online but couldn't find any help there, which leads me to ask...

Selling August '37 Esky - nice plates

Nice suit, although the hat leaves me cold... Like the pale grey suit A more sporting look I find this an interesting series of ensembles, even though they don't do much for me, particularly the dinghy/beach suits, the terry robe cut rather after the lines of a polo coat(?)...

Slaving over a hot scanner - fashion images from Esquire, August 1937

I'm guessing that "wino" doesn't have the same connotations in the US as here in the UK? (e.g. alcoholic tramp!)

Tweed and grey flannel I like; it was the white I have trouble with! You're all very welcome, my pleasure.

Yet more, principally vacation-focused, including the infamous "fishnet bathing shirt" and burma shade dinner jacket...: another I missed!
