Rockabilly is a specific music-based subculture and, although the styles are based on some vintage styles (a mixture of 40s and 50s), it also has developed its own specific styles too.
Vintage is a general term we use to cover styles from the past - so the style would be whichever era you...
Here's a question: what is the difference between a face cream or lotion that has SPF30 written on it and actual sunscreen with an SPF of 30? The face cream won't offer the same level of protection as the sunscreen will it?
I design and co-edit a short-run vintage lifestyle magazine called ERA, here in the UK. We did a short taster issue last year, which you can read online at our website www.eramagazine.co.uk but we have our first issue proper coming out in August - approx 96 pages including articles on travel...
Which one of theirs do you use Smuts? Is it this one: http://portal.laroche-posay.co.uk/product-treatments/Anthelios/Anthelios-XL-SPF-50-Melt-in-Cream-p763.aspx
I just discovered that the Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer I ordered from america has a "Warning - DO NOT USE" rating from the EWG!
I've been using P20 in the mornings for the last week and I tried putting it on my face which was a big mistake - it's alcohol based and it got in my eyes - OUCH!!!
I wish they did a higher SPF though - 20 is a bit low for me.
If you want easy and quick then vintage hair may not be for you, but if you can master a couple of updos that's the quickest thing. Pincurls and roller sets take more time and generally have to be done overnight unless you want to get up an hour or 2 earlier than usual for work! I don't mean to...
Because of the recession there are actually a lot of bargains to be had on Ebay UK at the moment - nobody bids! I sell as well and I can't get anything close to a decent price for anything at the moment. Having said that, I still dream about vintage shopping in the 80s when there were racks and...
Best to stick to matte eyeshadows - eyes can get lost in shimmery ones, plus they can be very ageing I think, exaggerating any lines and loose skin. For an 'open eye' look try a very pale or white shadow just as far as the socket crease and then a very thin black liquid line with a little flick...
Now that's a good tip! I'll give the eyedrops a try before I spend £10 on the Illamasqua sealing gel. I don't mind if it doesn't go on jet black on my eyebrows as mine are more like a very dark grey - could be perfect!
I've been using the Rimmel Pro liquid liner for several years too and I'm a big fan but recently they brought out a new pen-liner and I thought I'd give it a try. It's pretty useless for eyeliner but it's not bad for eyebrows! It's converted me to the idea of a paint for my eyebrows instead of...
We were asked to participate in a piece they were doing on different groups of women getting ready to go out for the night. The other groups were Debutantes (I'm guessing they mean posh birds!) and Geordie Lasses, although we didn't actually see the others so can't verify that! The piece will be...
I have manky toenails (a fungal infection passed on to me by an ex-boyfriend that nothing will shift) so I have to keep them painted red at all times as what's underneath is just vile! But when they're painted up they look pretty ok. My feet used to be one of my favourite things about myself as...
A quick snap at the end of our Cosmo photoshoot on saturday:

This is the suit I had made by Cynthia. Looking at the photo I think I may have been a little harsh about it earlier but I just know how much better it would have been in a good stiff wool blend:
It is lined, but it being the first thing I ever had her make I didn't know to specify I...
Cynthia runs a shop called TopRunway on ebay selling custom made repros, made-to-measure. The fit and make quality are generally brilliant but the fabrics aren't the greatest, sadly. She'll send you swatches of all her fabrics if you ask. I get my basic pencil skirts made by her - £32 each one...
Depends on the construction of the bonnet. Mine attaches with an elasticated aperture to the hose so a similar one would work as a replacement. But if it has to be exactly the right size hole then could be tricky. Although gaffer tape can fix anything!
