Slightly off-topic, but for all you darker-haired gals who use the baby powder trick, is it hard to get out? I've always wanted to try this, especially in the summer when my hair does get dirtier faster, but I'm scared it'll look like I have a strange scalp condition in my black hair! :eeek:
I used to be convinced I had oily hair, and that a nightly wash was in order. However, last winter I started spacing washings out to preserve my sets... lo and behold, I can go up to a week without a wash, and my hair looks (and feels) lovely and clean. I just rinse it every other night.
Oh, I really enjoyed looking through that! I'm quite impressed with the vibrancy of the colors; perhaps it's just the camera, but her wardrobe certainly seems to be rich in beautiful, bright pieces. Perhaps it's just a regional thing (most of my vintage comes from old rural Vermont estates, ie...
Wow, I wish I wasn't broke-- there are so many pretty shoes here!!
ASOS has me ever so tempted with all their sale shoes; they have adorable low-heeled oxfords galore right now, all on clearance for under $50...
Yes, I get the "Mad Men" thing every now and again; truthfully, I consider it a compliment-- at least they kind of get what I'm going for. I've had "Katy Perry" three times this Fall (yes, I have a tally going) and it makes me want to cry; "Mad Men" is a million times better!
I was at the MFA...
Mine live in an old candy tin, with a Molly Brett illustration on it. It's perfect because it has a little handle, and it hinges shut to prevent those dreaded pin spills.
No, unfortunately! They're by a company called "Yellow Box". They're definitely a nice consolation prize, though, as I couldn't afford those adorable Miss L Fires last year lol.
We (tragically) received almost two feet of snow at my house over the weekend, so I figure it's about time to revive this thread! :)
I just got these cute little boots; I do wish the heel was more of a tapered, cuban silhouette, but they're rather pretty in person, and they were only $30.00 on...
Aww, Tasha Tudor! Her farm is just a little ways from where I grew up, as a matter of fact-- this settles it, I shall have to finally invest in some woolen and flannel slips. Vermont winters are the absolute worst.
Until I absolutely must put on some wool stockings, I have purchased some...
I'm glad I'm not the only one whose everyday clothes are taken for a costume this time of year! I think it's more amusing than insulting. (A matching tattoo for your costume? Really?! lol)
I was thinking perhaps this year I'll dress as a "21st century person" for halloween, so I can be in...
Black Dahlia, what a ridiculous comment! You have such beautiful hair! Maybe she was just a very determined saleswoman.
I love Halloween theoretically, but the actuality is a bit trying... I've been getting all sorts of "great costume!" comments of late. I recently made the mistake of running...
Haha, the other evening, I was working at at an opening reception (I work the desk in a museum) and a little boy, perhaps about 13, came up and said, "you look so beautiful!" [aww, thanks!] "Every time I look over at you, you look exactly like Katy Perry!". It was sweet, and he was the cutest...
Thank you, ladies :). I didn't take it too personally; I mean, it's probably a compliment I don't meet with that neanderthal's approval lol. However, it always stings to be called out like that. Let's hope he was an undersocialized freshman and will learn some manners soon.
Oh, and to clarify...
Wow, you ladies have some impressive hair... I'm in awe/envy over here!
Toni, do you use a shine serum, or is your hair naturally that glossy? I recently dyed my hair back to black after a two-year break, but I'm struggling to make it dramatically shiny without compromising the curl-ability...
That's just a normal day for me at my extremely conservative (but affordable, sigh) state university. Usually I don the disinterested Garbo gaze, like Miss sofia said, but C-Dot's tactic seems much more affable! Frankly, I'm mostly just tempted to give them the Wanda Woodward snarl lol.
I...
Oh, can I sympathize... I'm from the icy tundras of Northern New England, where bone-chilling winds, blizzards, and sleet are a very normal feature of winter life here. Certainly not conducive to a glamorous appearance, to say the least! Here are some things I have found helpful for battling the...
PearlsandPearls, I just got some Bass saddles as well! I love them to pieces, they're so comfortable and sturdy. Awfully cute, too!
Here are mine, the Glenbrook in cream/fawn.
Moon Matrix, I hope yours were just a faulty pair, though I must confess, the construction is not exactly high...
Miss Tuppence, perfection as always!! You look very harmonious with the background there :).
Here's what I'm wearing on this fall-ish rainy day. I found my frock for $10.00 this weekend; it's great!
1940s dress. 1950s velvet hat. TUK t-straps.
