Thanks guys!
I recently got a pair of 6" cap toe Chippewa's but keep noticing a bunch of great looking boots out there. I'm dreaming of some of those White's and European Red Wings....maybe someday!
This is a photo that was posted sometime back. I'm curious what the shoes are the couple of guys are wearing in the front with the white dots on the soles? Does anyone have an idea?
I got a new pair of boots and I am wanting to condition the leather and hopefully darken them up a bit. I have heard some say that mink oil is good and others say not to use mink oil as it harms the leather or stitching.
What do you guys think....is mink oil a bad idea?
Does someone have a...
Can someone that has had both Chippewa and Red Wing boots tell me which one they prefer. I'm looking at the cap toe model shown above from Chippewa and possibly some like the style 952 from Red Wing. I love the Red Wing 1908 but they are a bit out of my price range!
Use one of the products mentioned in combination with a good boar hair brush. The brush will give you that slick, plastered look....much more so than a comb.
I would highly suggest contacting Trufit & Hill and speak to a manager. I have read of a similar instance on a shaving forum and as I recall that the unpleasant situation was taken care of to the complete satisfaction of the customer.
Wow....what a timely thread. I just ended a two-year relationship by my choice. I am 35 and was married for eight years previous to this last relationship. Over the last year or so I just came to realize that we were just two different people. She has a drinking problem and I have done/did...
Biltmore Bob,
Did you get the ones that have the cap toe? Do you find the Chippewas run pretty true to size?
Do you know of a place that has good deals on Chippewas? I have been looking at both the Chippewa and Redwing brand and trying to decide between the two companies.
Thanks,
Ben
I picked up a couple of vintage ties this weekend at an antique store and I now need a shirt or two to go with the ties. The ties are all dark and narrow cut....sort of like something you might see on JFK. I am curious what shirt I would need in order to get the right look. I was thinking...
Sort of an interesting story:
I was playing cards one night with a group of friends and somehow the Boy Scouts were brought up in our conversation. It turned out that 5 out of the 7 of us were Eagle Scouts. I'm sure you guys know the odds of that happening is pretty rare. Anyho....thanks...
Another Eagle Scout checking in here. I'm not a big fan of the way the uniform has changed over the years. As others have mentioned I think the uniform is overpriced and a bit out of reach for some families on a tight budget.
I don't like the collared shirts at all. To look good in a...
As far as slicked up styles here is what works for me. I have it short on the sides, faded/taper cut in the back and long on top (It reaches the end of my nose when I pull it down in the front). After washing and towel drying my hair I put in about a tablespoon of Brylcream and work it through...
Mom called them Curlers and the Girl Friend calls them Hot Rollers....at any rate the GF's birthday is coming up and I want to get her a set. Can someone recommend a good set for me? I'm outta my league on this one! ;)
One more thing...What is the proper way to lace a pair of military boots?
Do you start the laces under or over...meaning when you first put in the laces do you put them with the lace in the holes first or coming out of the holes first? Hopefully this makes sense.
Thanks
I was sort of thinking about work boots and what guys in the late 40's and 50's would have been wearing. Most of the working class guys I would guess would be buying what they could afford and a lot of this would have included WWII surplus gear. I would imagine that combat boots would have...
Sharpetoye,
I have a question regarding Randalls. My father has a couple that he got while serving in the Army. One of them is a kit knife that he put together (#5) and the other is a Model 3. I got the knife bug at an early age and ordered a Randall that I waited on for about 3.5 years or...
