That's so true, and a pity. Every time I tell someone that I can't wear high heels without a Mary Jane kind strap because of my small heels, they tell me: "get Italian shoes, they are more narrow". Well, it's not that easy to get Italian shoes, esp. when you have a limited budget.

Still looking for a diagram or anything that my hair dresser really can use, I found this:
Although it's not exactly what I was looking for - aiming for a 'femme fatale' - I'll probably show it to my hair dresser. Unfortunately, it's not too...
What a wonderful idea! I will try to keep that in mind for my next defrosting.
Once I had to wait for a new fridge when mine was broken. I kept my food in a bag on the window sill - it worked quite well. But it was winter and it was only for a few days. I had to defrost my milk only once. :D
Haha, I can imagine those elderly people gasping! Considering that this is sort of a (very free) remake of All That Heaven Allows, they probably expected something else. While in the original movie the broken taboo was only the class and age barrier, in Far From Heaven there was the "race...
You're very welcome. Maybe it's also interesting for you that the movie was inspired by the work of Douglas Sirk, a director of German origin who made e.g. All That Heaven Allows (Was der Himmel erlaubt), Imitation of Life (Solange es Menschen gibt), and Written In The Wind (In den Wind...
When I was a kid, my dad used to "freeze dry" the clothes on a rack. We didn't have a dryer at the time, so it was natural to dry everything outdoors - the balcony in our case. He also used the winter drying to demonstrate physics to me: "See, we hang it wet, it freezes, and afterwards it's...
Hello ladies!
My personal tailor - aka my aunt - needs something to do to avoid becoming a bored retired gal. So I thought I'd ask her to make a new dress for me. :D I'm totally in love with the auburn day dress Julianne Moore wears in Far From Heaven. Unfortunately, I have no proper pictures...
I just found this week-ender which is almost as new. Late sixties, I'd say. Any other ideas? It has these neat zipper locks, and the keys came with it.
Plus sunglasses (repro) and a teak mason's level which seems to be quite old - and still works.
I don't know if another book was mentioned here: I enjoyed reading A stone for Danny Fisher by Harold Robbins.
The depression isn't the main topic, but it's a well written family story in the time of the depression.
Sure. There from Bama. I could post a link to a website where they can be ordered (but maybe just from Germany, I'm not sure). Are we allowed to post commercial links?
Well, I just do it. If it's forbidden, please remove and forgive me, bartenders...
I've been looking for such a set for ages but I wasn't willig to pay too much since I don't really ever drink any shots. But I wanted this anyway, and finally found it at the local thrift store.
The handle is a bit loose and the white glass isn't original - but it's a sweet piece of...
Shebear, that apple net is .. I'm sort of speechless. What an idea! is it really usable/wearable or did you just temporarily pin it on somehow for the photo?
Cutiepie, I totally agree with the others, esp. the first picture is a great hairstyle! I looks wonderful on you.
I'm totally in love with my new vintage-compatible booties.
(excuse my "doe just to be run over" stare)
I love how they look, they're comfy and weren't even expensive. Yay! :D
Dorota, you look marvellous. What's that on your head, a little feather hat?
But your husband should look a bit happier with such a pretty gal on his side... ;)
