That's wonderful! I'm looking for such a shelf, too. Congratulations to your find.
VintageTink, the machine looks great. Yours is at least 15-20 years older than mine. I gave up looking for a really old one cause I wasn't as lucky as you. I cross my fingers for you that it really works with...
Thank you for sharing this! I love the "kitty" style - it almost looks like fake Victory rolls. I will try that some day (my hair is so thin that my Victory rolls usually look really pathetic, I could do a bit of cheating here ;) )
Folly, those watches are cute, I like esp. the one in top. I wear one like that (from my grandma) once in a while and it feels wonderful. Maybe you can have it repaired. Over here, such services are pretty expensive, hopefully it's different in the UK.
Also love the purse :)
Thank you Paul! My aunt, the tailor, picked the red dress up today to refresh it a bit, meaning she'll mend the broken seams, replace the shoulder pads with new ones (a bit smaller), get rid of the ugly zipper, and if she'll find a collar that matches a bit better (this one has been added later...
Paul, love your hair! Also the skirt is really neat and classy. And I must say - although I'm one of those radical non-smokers - you look really cool with the cigarette.
I can imagine. Sometimes, when you find something from your childhood, be it an item, a song, a smell, it just touches you in a special way. Congratulations to your find!
Thank you for your ideas, ladies! :)
I talked to my friend about the idea to send a camera (I even have an old unused digicam that would be suitable for the purpose). Problem is, there are about 200 (!) large boxes full of things, mainly clothes. Not only that it's absolutely impossible to...
You can say that. I keep grinding my brain how I can prevent the misery but I don't know. She doesn't even have a digi cam to make some snap shots of the other clothes, so I could make a pick from the distance... *sob*
Well, it's probably not possible to get more from her, unfortunately. She's so insecure about picking the right stuff and she has too much to send it all. So it'll go to the church or the trash can.
No need to be sorry! Thanks again for your help. My friend and her ma will be happy she they made such a good pick although she has no clue about clothing styles. Just too sad that she doesn't. Who knows what treasures she will dispose of. I can't even think about it :eusa_doh:
The second is wonderful (*swoon*). I'm too far away and my cupboard is too full anyway :(
Maybe you should add the size here, to avoid useless hopes...
Wow, thank you! I thought it looked fourties, but I didn't know when polka dots really came up.
By writing 1943-9, do you mean between 1943 and 1949 or September 1943 (which would be unbelievably precise!)?
Do you agree that the zipper was added later (photo is in the mother-to-daughter...
I got a dress from a friend's mother who found it in the old house where she just moved in.
detail pictures and more info is in the "from mother to daughter" thread: http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?56790-From-mother-to-daughter&p=1492344&viewfull=1#post1492344
I can't really...
I didn't know where else to post this.
The mother of a good friend of mine just moved into an old house that carries loads of remains of the past owner, an old lady. Now, she sent a package with some clothing to my friend, who handed most of it over to me (she's no vintage girl). Most of it is...
Fabricland already sent an answer to my mail. It was quick, but not very polite (not rude, either - it's just that I'm not used to getting mails without even a "Hello" as a start). I must say that I'm surprised about the shipping cost they told me. It's much more than I expected, £20.00! When I...
kamikat, when I look at the pictures of your wonderful self made clothes, I get the idea to make a flip book of all those pictures (got to say again how much I admire the amount of your output!). you always look so sweet, set up in your living room and your dog playing around.
