VintageTink, I'm somewhat confused by that photograph. Is it upside down? Where you doing a headstand while taking the photo? Or am I drunk? :D
Which pattern was it btw?
Over the years, my skin becomes dryer and dryer.
All the products against dry skin and all the advice seem to be based upon the premise that dryness is the same as lack of oil. My skin obviously lacks moisture but seemingly does not lack oil. Whenever I use anything oily on my skin, I get...
Crazydaisy, you've done such a wonderful job on both of those outfits. I especially like the on in the second photo. I admire you for finishing such big projects! A pair of socks is about the biggest thing I can finish ;)
On Saturday, I was on a bachelorette party night with some girls in Hamburg. We went to a burlesque club - it was the first time I saw a burlesque show in real life (I'd seen it on TV before). I was really thrilled by one of the two dancers we saw. She was so coquettish and sexy and sweet, I...
You got a nice and pretty collection there. What do you do with the hankies, do you actually use them what they were meant for? I have a few from my grandmother but I find them unpractical to really blowing my nose. So I sometimes carry them for the effect, like waving at the train platform and...
LizzieMaine, you got a point there. Only that I'm unsure if I'm able to do a real good repair job. I'm pracitising quite a bit, mending my socks and underskirts and such.
Is there some kind of Hitchcock anniversary or just a coincidence that yesterday, they aired The Birds here in Germany as well? I noticed that I still get really tense in some scenes, although I can virtually see the blue screen and know how all the trick scenes where made. Hitchcock was a...
Although this isn't my favorite Marilyn film, I must say I was sort of shocked when I watched it with the original sound for the first time after I got the DVD. The dubbing voices sure did a good job, but that horse catching scene, when Marilyn is doing her shouting, screaming monologue -...
Thank you ladies, I think you are very wise! Life is short and we're supposed to make the best of it. So why keep anything for a time that might never come or for some heir who might just throw it in the trash. Maybe I should put a paper sign on my wardrobe, saying "Life is short" or something...
This is a very interesting topic! A lot of good things have been stated, like that it's more important sharing values than sharing interests. And that it's wise to concentrate on what you got in common better than concentrating on what separates you.
I don't have any friends who love vintage...
Good to know that I'm not the only one with this kind of thinking. I guess it's good to preserve the items that are really special, like if they're of a very delicate fabric, or a special designer, or something we inherited from someone. But most of the things I have are none of that. A few...
Thank you for your comments! I try to imagine people playing twister on my dress (while I'm still wearing it, of course). Not really G-rated, is it? :D
Of course we picked the car, if that's what you wanna call it (no offence meant, I love this kinda tiny vehicles, but I'm not sure if you...
I recently noticed something weird about myself. Instead of wearing my vintage pieces, I choose one of my few modern outfits. One reason clearly is laziness, like when I don't feel like doing my hair or got prickly legs, I prefer a modern jeans outfit.
But, another reason is, as it seems now...
You look so splendid together! Wow!
I stumbled on a flea market the other day (thanks to our public transport system, they just removed a station without telling, so I got out on the wrong spot). There, I got a vinyl singles album (with several crappy singles in it), a wall clock, a pair of...
I guess it's not so uncommon to use costumes and dresses that already have been used. They did that in Hollywood from the very beginning, so why should they stop now? It's the same with props and backdrops.
It's very interesting to see how different stars look in the same outfit, don't you...
GHT, that dress is lovely, and the print is awesome! I think it was a good decision to pass on the bow.
Lareine, watch out - the Golden Rule is highly addictive! :D
I used the top of the dress you picked for my second Lutterloh project. I really liked how it came out, and pity that it's too...
A final goodbye to my student's sneaker days: yesterday I got my first real heels in about a decade. I'm not sure if they can really be considered high-heels (about 10cm), but I had to do some walking practice. :D
I love them and think they are quite vintage compatible.
