For me it would definitely be making the choice to wear red lipstick everyday- or nearly everyday. My confidence has soared, other people treat me with more respect etc
Ah, my dears! I did it again- thought I bought a really swell black purse only to get home and realise that it's navy.
Fair enough, I still want to wear it, but as I wear a lot of black half my wardrobe is out.
What can you combine navy with without making it look clashing?
p.s. Hope...
I absolutely loved it. Hepburn is so, so charming. Like you said, it's really interesting to see how it's more "seriously mocking" the upper classes than Bringing Up Baby, which I'd call right out screw ball comedy.
Like some others neither I, nor my parents, had been born yet. This thread has been so fascinating to read though! It makes me really sad that we really are slowly losing these links to the past. I can't believe that I didn't pester my great grandmother, aka the woman who raised me, more about...
Another update: Going to the university gym quite regularly now which includes weight lifting in my regime. I've also taken a page out of Dita's book and started regular pilates. Things are looking pretty good.
How's everyone else's fitness going?
Also, how do you manage to keep a pin curl...
Looks like the beauty book has been pushed back to January 2014. I've pre-ordered now because something that's been so long in the works must be pretty spectacular!
Aww, thank you, that's very sweet of you to say! Quite funny to me when I think of how many times I drop out of dressing vintage for a week and then drop back in full force.
Quick update from me: I'm still running on a semi-regular basis and doing yoga. I can't say I've noticed much of a...
I agree with this. Definitely don't mind it from some people- you can usually tell the intention by the tone, but the word is rather reminiscent of being told off as a child.
In Germany if you called someone Fräulein these days I'm pretty you'd get slapped. That's one of those ultimate...
Whenever I get the grandmother comment I say my thanks because "my grandmother was is one hell of a woman!"
As for the sexual frustration comments, I rarely know what to say. I like to think that being comfortable wearing bold red lips and the likes actually signals a certain comfort with...
My partner and I were sat in McDonalds today (shame on us). Me in a t-shirt with a 50s-esque skirt, my hair set and lipstick and her in her work uniform (t-shirt, jeans etc) with her hair in a pompadour as usual. A man was sat across from us and as we went to leave he said, "Excuse me, is this...
I don't think it's dead, but I do find it a bit dated to expect a man to do it. Common courtesy to me dictates whoever gets to the door first holds it open for those that follow- whether male, female or in between.
I have this weird idea in my head that women are capable of doing anything that...
Noooo clue! Unless...they were surfing (the original intention of UGGs, I believe, was to keep surfers feet warm post surf) and suffering from pneumonia.
Not gonna lie, I'm ridiculously proud of my pin curl set today!
Flat pin curls everywhere, 6 standing ones at the top, fringe in two small foam rollers. The hair flower is from Claire Accessories.
(Huge smile courtesy of listening to my partner's phone voice. Hilarious!)
Bumping this back up after a little digging!
I seem to have quite the opposite problem of the 5 foot 1 dames in this thread. While we share the same height anything much longer than an inch below the knee makes me look like a dwarf. People never notice when I'm dressed vintage but my skirts...
