I'm always shocked a little bit by rude behavior in society. It's unnerving that such beautiful women suffer nasty comments like these, but it's another example of how we must not base our sense of self-worth on the opinions of others, and certainly not strangers (especially from the 21st...
How do you use velcro rollers without getting a big knotted mess? I haven't been able to use velcro rollers at all, let alone rolling around in sleep! I might as well take a fistful of tape and shove it in my hair as to use velcro rollers. They are a serious no-no for me. What's your technique?
I bought some of the Boots Rose water cold cream yesterday and used it last night for the first time. It does a great job of removing makeup, but I can't tell how it will benefit my skin yet, of course. My first impression is that it left a residue. I use Retin-A gel at night before bed and I...
crwitt, thank you for posting this photo. I need to work on finger waves. I practiced some this weekend but was unhappy with the results. Not sure my face is cut out for them either. I like the 'puffier' waves like in Water for Elephants, but I don't know how to get regular, flatter ones, let...
So do the majority of those hear use cold cream to remove make up only? I guess I'm not that clear on what its true use is. Makeup removal and/or moisturizing? Does a cold cream have benefits over, say, pure coconut or jojoba oil in the oil-cleansing method?
I've loved this actress's look and that eyebrow arch since I saw her as a blonde in Two Moon Junction back in the '80s! I think brunette fits her better, but she was and is gorgeous either way.
Thank you for all these tips! I'm going to check Sally beauty tomorrow on the way home from work to see what they have. I haven't tried hair wrapping but I will be checking out videos on it. I think I've been trying to create my own wrap stuff because I've gotten to using setting lotion or gel...
Curling tongs? Hmmm...will have to google that. Maybe you're referring to what we call duckbill clips here. I agree that practice has helped - but we all want that shiny s-wave right out of the set. The art of compromising!
I'm looking for others who've done this as it sounds really interesting. I already use coconut oil to condition overnight, but have never noticed any effect on curl pattern. My hair drinks it up and it feels so much softer after a couple of treatments. I haven't been using an apple cider vinegar...
I liked it...it was better than I thought. My teen daughter picked it, but I ended up liking it more than expected. I didn't read the book though. Lovely costumes and style and the whole 30s kind of feel. Her hair and look is gorgeous in it.
Thank you, dmoran, for your suggestions! I have had some successful sets since I posted that awful photo, and in the process have learned some things about my own hair. If I had been born in an earlier time, I feel like I'd have known more about how to work with my hair, but growing up in the...
40's, I have the same problem. Wide legged trousers = wide silhouette on me. I'm 5'8" but a long torso and short legs. Ugh. So much for getting my mother's super long legs. :( Like you, too, high-wasted skirts or capris look pretty good and give the illusion that my legs are longer (and my...

I second Miss Sofia's suggestion of pomade and hairspray - Alberto VO5 hairdressing (in the black/gold tube) works well for me to cut frizz on a daily basis for styling. In the shower, conditioning with super-moisturizing products that don't contain silicones along with frequent deep...
