    Show us your hair do's....

Itsgenda - both sets are retro-y to me but I prefer the first one because I love that kind of long, Veronica Lake kind of 'do. RockyHorror, I pulled the front section of my hair out a bit at the root after wrapping it so that it made a kind of 'S' curve toward my forehead and then away from as...

    The Hair Tutorials thread

I agree with those who say keep winding around and around. Or in the case of lots of length, maybe section the length left and make fat pin curls, pinning to the back of your head above the band? That would prevent multiple winds around the band and give a similar result maybe. In my haste to...

    Natural Products

Miss Peach, I do the same thing - buy 'sensitive' formulas for infants. The US is still labeling sunscreens about SPF 50, and the highest I've seen yet is SPF 100. I have sunblock everywhere just like lip balm - in my purse, the car, desk at work, in friend's cars...it's nuts. But necessary...

    The Middy Thread

bunnyb, you could try looking into a school for cosmetology in your area maybe. I took my diagram to a stylist who regularly competes in 'hair shows' and when she saw it, she said it is exactly the same thing they give the stylists/contestants when assigning them particular cuts to demonstrate...

Crwritt, I agree with you. It might do well as a sticky? One question - to those who've tried this so far...Has anyone had problems with the headband sliding off/up on the crown of their head? I ask because I have the misfortune of an apparently odd-shaped head which prevents me from keeping...

    Cute Vintage-y Shoes

These are on sale...but I have a pair very similar to them already and just can't come up with a good enough excuse to buy them...even in brown!

    Best Shampoo for Redheads?

I cannot remember the brand of color-depositing shampoo Sally Beauty sells, but I have used it with mild success. In my experience as a dyed redhead, the color protecting shampoos did nothing but strip the color just like any other shampoo. They might work for other colors, but not red, imho...

    Show us your hair do's....

I was really curious to see how your curls would turn out since you have naturally curly hair too. Very pleased with the results. I'm afraid of a frizz fest since curls seem especially prone to that. Cannot WAIT to try this! I need at least another hour added onto each day... Thanks for posting...

    Show us your hair do's....

I love how this looks! No one would know it's a 2-for-one: a retro style that's also setting as your hair for another retro style as you wear it! I can't wait to try this. I have the hair bands waiting on me, just need the time. Thanks for posting your results.

    Lock loop rollers

It still looks really good - curls have nice formation and everything.

    Lock loop rollers

Thanks for posting your results with these. I hadn't seen the commercial but just now watched the video. I'm with the others who don't like the curl shown in the video, but yours turned out so much better! I'm guessing these are very easy to sleep in and don't leave bumps in the hair sections...

You're welcome about the link - I ran across it by accident while viewing some of the tutorials here. Really amazed at the results from such simple technique. Now what's this about castille soap for hair? Off to google...

Left a comment about this on the other thread. Thank you so much for sharing this! Now I'm going to HAVE to try it.

    The Middy Thread

I'm in agreement with crwritt on this - your hair was thinned just the same, but true to instruction he did not razor-cut or feather. My understanding is limited, but what this does is create hairs with different lengths mixed into the layered lengths you've asked for...making it harder to...

It looks great! Thanks so much for posting photos and an update about this method. I haven't tried it yet despite my best efforts to set aside a night. By the way, keeping the hair in the band and adding a flower IS a cute style - I saw a video on YouTube of that very thing a long time ago (it...

In agreement with you about Damian Lewis! LOVED him in Band of Brothers.

Harrison Ford He may have been mentioned before, but I really had a thing for Harrison Ford back in the day, especially as Indiana Jones (some of that might've been spillover from the role he played since I was in love with that character).

    Cold Cream- Brands and advice!

I don't consider myself to have naturally sensitive skin, but I'm an avid Retin-A user and chemical peeler, both of which heighten sensitivity to everything. I haven't had any issues with Cataphract's products in the 8+ days I've been using them. Of course, your mileage may vary.

    Cold Cream- Brands and advice!

Zombi, I ordered a couple of samples of Cataphract's cold cream, the lavender and the rose, and am very happy with them. My skin feels softer with no sensation of a residual oil film that I've felt when using Boots and Ponds (Boots more so than Ponds though). I am going to order some full sized...
