I loved my glasses and I miss them so much since I had my eyes lasered. I got the optician to put prescription free lenses in my old frames as my Bf really liked them on me!
Glasses are so pretty...
Still struggling to break out of the Gothic Black form my teen years- there are only so many jewel tones around in the shops. I'm stratign out on becoming a stylist; my interest began when I had no idea what to wear and dveloped from there. Being 5 foot (below 'petite' sizes and curvy (but slim)...
I have posted on here before about the fact that my ex-freind has started buying every peice that I did (or very similar), off ebay- so I've had to make my profile private.
Whats even wierder is that I just bought a dressing table form a local antique shop and the next minute she is buying...
Jessiesgirl- you are not alone. I feel exactly the same way. I don't think there is anything wrong with rocking a bright blue or purple shadow- I think it's the make-up equivalent of those girls on here with bright pink hair etc. who just look fantastic! It takes the serious edge off vintage...
Ponds vanishing cream is an oil control mouse mosituriser. i think it's discontinued now. i bought a stock and have 6 jars left. they changed the fragrance from years ago- it used to smell like MACs make-up wipes do now- iris?. I got the clay from the pharmacy- it's dirt cheap. They sell it for...
I've had this problem before- of gettign into something too quick and feeling that i need to 'have everything correct' in order not be criticised by 'The Ubers'- only to realise once I actually got into it that it wasn't for me. I did this with Cybergoth- i stupidly thought that 'Industrial' was...
Thanks for all the support and advice. The thing is, I kind of feel a bit of a fraud since I do have a lot of the things I need (the hot rollers, pincurl clips, sponge rollers, make-up , lingerie, accessories etc.) and an acceptable amount of real vintage peices- but the only real vintage peice...
I just got MAC Fleur power and a PRO shade called salsarose. They are perfect for my sister who is a Bright Spring colour type. The Fleur power looks just liek her natural blush and the salsa rose is a tiny bit stronger forevening. They are both peachy pink shades. i'd definatly recomend them...
I'm glad this post came up as i have been thinking a lot during the Winter break about my 'vintage credentials'. I don't want to be seen a as a wanabe so I always go into whatever my current favourite style is, with the intention of being totally 'uber'. I swapped my face care for coldcream etc...
My Mum was a beatnik. She talks about that time a lot- I think she was very happy then- not that she isn't now. She used to frequent a club in Birkenhead called 'The Cubic' and drink coffee. She used to watch 'the old grey whistle test' on TV. Clothes wise the colour was black but drak brown or...

Thanks for that suggestion- i'v eseen it but I think it may be a touch too orange. I got an Illamsqua cream blush in brazen that was described as a cheery red and it turned out t be more orange toned. I have pink and yellow tones but no purple/blue or orange ones. I'm dying to get...
I've got tonnes-all MAC beacuse they fit into the MAC palletes. All worn last over powder. Creams with a duo fibre brush and powders with a powder brush.
Creams
Posey- soft blue pink
Lady blush- sofy yellow pink (very natural)
Hunger- deep red (too deep for me)
I'm looking for a bright...
This thread was inspired not by Austerity for me but by the opposite. My experiment with 'vintage style' beauty regime was not a sucess- I'm so much happier with high end beauty products. I got loads of Clarins for Xmas so I have been left with tonnes of pears soap, ponds and boots cold cream...
I bought a white bobbed wig a while ago. I am very pale and thought I'd look all ethereal, especially with some shimmery highlighter on my skin- BUT I just looked God awful, like and old lady. It definatly was not flatering on me. Pity.
Pinapple juice should work too- its the enzymes. I heard on QI that people who work in pinapple factories have no fingerprints as the pinapple juice errodes them!
Just thought I'd mention that my Mum went to a convent school and she said that they were made to wear stockings from a young age everyday beacuse it was lady-like- the Nuns even checked that they weren't wearing pantyhose (tights) which were strickly forbidden!
The other week my Ftaher was round at my sisters house and he he noticed that the window locks could do with upgrading and offered to do it for her - she replied that it was a good idea but maybe she should start locking her doors first!
Well she does live in rural Wales- the postman even...
I think my Mum has similar oppinions to a lot of the other Mothers
Before I comment about my Mum in particular I need to give you a bit of background: My Mum (64) is of Irish stock- it seems like the potato famine stunted our height - we are all about 5foot but it's like our bodies have been...
