My Mum is the same- she associates Art Deco style with cheap old-fashioned furniture. She much prefers new modern style furnitiure.
My Dad had a part-time job with his Dad when he was a boy, which was to break-up old Edwardian furniture for the tip. He still talks about how it broke his heart...
Handbag
I'm looking for inspiration for a casual handbag that I could take shopping to wear with jeans and trousers- preferably cross-body so i can keep my hands-free- but something that is still sympathetic to a vintage style. (I considered a leather satchel- but it didn't feel quite right...
I just got Shu Uemura Nobarra stick as a replacement for my MAC studiostick. The shade 584 is a great match for NW10/15.
I still prefer my MAC studiostick as it has a powdery texture as it dries.
The Shu one is more emolliant and I'm tempted to add powder over the top. Overall, very...
Just discovered MAC Charred Red, just as it's been discontinude. its the perfect dark red- liek hangup but less purple and more red. I need to find a back-up!
Also- Chanel rouge Coco in Paris is a glorious pinky red- very vivid. This is on my list to pick up this week.
As promiced my Clarisonic review:
Skin Type: Combination (mildly oily T-zone, normal cheeks)
Skin Texture: Very thin and easily damaged
Sensitivity: None
Problems:
-Extreamly small pores that blocked easily with Sebacous Filaments
-Flakey patches from damage during extraction...
My latest indulgence is a clarisonic plus. My new meds (hormone supplements) have made my skin go haywire so I'm hoping this will sort it out. I've always has lovely skin since my teens and I'm just getting so stressed out with it now. It was so expensive that the credit card company phoned me...
Hi Scruff
I had the rich liquid, the light liquid and the cream formulas, plus pressed and loose powder. None of it worked for me at all :( The colour match was good so it was quiet a disapointment. The MU artists I know that use them , always mix them with other foundations, never alone...
Mike- My partner would agree with you.You have to be a very close and honoured freind to try on his Hombergs.
Question for the ladies: Do you ever stop older ladies and compliment them on thier style? I try to when I get the courage and when it seems appropriate (I also compliment dashing...
Yes- actually. I sold all the illamasqua stuff as the texture of all the products justwould not work- very heavy, far too much pigment, cakey looking, settled into pores, almost like a kaolin mask.- made me look a horror. Went back to MAC.
I got a small round bullet shaped blush/ shading...
Hi Juliet
I thought you might like it. i've yet to try it on as i bought a size smaller to slim into it!
Hi Amy
I think quirky styles are charming. Me, I'm theatrical and I've just come to accept that i'll be hopelesly over-dressed for most occasions!
Juliet
I got this Esther williams swimsuit as it reminds me of Arlena's. I got a petal swimcap to wear with it too.

I was just wondering what inspires you each day in your dress and style?
I'm so totally in love with the costumes I sse whilst watching Poirot (and the sets, I love Art Deco)- they inspire me to step away from the skinny jeans and T-shirts and make that little extra effort that day.
One...
Pale for me. I don't tan- i did once and it came out like a dirty yellow brown sitting on top of my skin- not pretty. I don't tend to burn either though. But I have grey eyes which are very sensitive so I don't go out when the sun is shinning so I have very liitle oppurtunity to tan anyway.
Hi
We had Wheels & Dollbaby in a shop near me for a while and the quality didn't justify the price- it's nice quality but not anything special in terms of fabric, cut or finish.
Taxidermy: I read that Dita got her tate in taxidermy from her ex (He's got loads of things, inc. a big stuffed...
Beautiful BoPeep! I was hoping you would post something like this.
My Mum sewed my crinoline for my dance recitals- she didn't complain too much so i'm assuming it wasn't too harsh a task to make it.[huh]
Thanks for the advice Bo Peep- I think I have been wearing my skirts at mid-calf. I can't wear knee length as it cut's my legs in half and shortens them but just below might work best.
Thanks
Trish
P.S Tifi - you look so much like a girl I saw with her boyfriend at Charles de Gaulle...
I am so torn on wether to keep or sell my crinolines. i have 3 that i bought all at the same time for a multibuy discount- in black, white and red. I love the shape and swish of them but as I've said before I'm only 5foot tall and the shape does overwhelm me. My Mum said that in the her youth...
I keep a spreadsheet of al my clothing and accessories (and Make-up and CDs and DVds and books and .....ok, I know, OCD!) It started off at uni as a way to keep track of all my stuff. I find that the list is a really good way to see what items are 'missing' from my wardrobe e.g. black blouse in...
