I forget the movie or show, but I do remember this scene:
Guy: Can I get your number?
Attractive woman: It's in the book.
Guy: What's your name?
Attractive woman: That's in the book too. (Walks away)
They probably all look beautiful to the US Mint; people "collect" them and take them out of circulation which is a profit for the Fed. "Since it costs the Mint about five cents for each 25-cent piece it produces, the government made a profit whenever someone 'bought' a coin" (Wikipedia quote)...
For some reason, this reminds me of the phrase "The Devil take the last of them". I always took that to mean that you should be about your business and not procrastinate.
Also, I remember the exclamation "Holy Katoots!" and, like yourself, I have no idea what it was supposed to mean.
Expressions that I used to hear quite regularly when I was young when a person came upon something that was confusing or outrageous were "What in Sam Hill . . .", "What the dickens . . ." or "What in tarnation . . ."

I believe that they were all euphemisms for Hell...
I remember the jump from tube radios and tvs to solid state/transistors. Things was, you could replace the tubes yourself from the local drug or hardware store. They even had tube testers right on the counter so you could bring them in yourself and see which which were good or bad and replace...
One that I never hear anymore is "So sue me" when people have a disagreement. Most likely because things have gotten so litigious nowadays that people actually will sue and they certainly don't need any encouragement.
Has anyone had occasion to box someone's ears lately? It used to be a common threat when I was a child. Never did get 'em boxed though . . .
Got a mild cuff on them once or twice
