Because wool hats are formed in a hydralic press and the felt doesn't respond as well as fur-felt altering crown height won't be easy. Steam and pushing down might work, but they don't generally respond well to reshaping.
Thanks for the comments on the green Biltmore. I shall leave it as is for now - it looks better in photos than in the mirror...
Perry - I had to make do with a bottle of Guinness original, not the same as draught but not bad ;)
Joao - I agree with Michael, the brim looks good as is.
Michael -...
BlackMaskPulp - Nicely worn Fed. My bank manager would love me to be spending other people's money rather than my own :)

NOS Canadian made Biltmore Imperial today. The brim is wider than I really like homburgs to be, but it's growing on me, although I'm still undecided on the shade of...
Edward - oddly I picked up one of those equestrian top hats from ebay (unworn Christys £10) in the equestrian bit of the site. I've yet to work out what to wear it with, or when. Any suggestions?
David - fine looking VS
Harv - I really like that colour combination.
Andy - that VS has a beautiful colour felt.
Perry - out of your great collection of hats that has to be in my top 5
TJones - You've just reminded me I must get round to getting the extension re-felted this summer (I take...

Frank - with felts I'd recommend liberally dusting with bicarb of soda, leaving for a while then brushing off. It might not work as well with straw, but I can't see it doing any harm.
I second g.d.'s comments. I have two old stock Canadian made Biltmores from just before they were taken over, and even the better one isn't as well made as the Akubra Feds. I've not tried the new Hatco owned Biltmores, but unless they're significantly better than the standard Hatco felts of...
