Virtually all German garment makes were involved in military contacts including Boss however, Dr Karl Diebitsch was the designer of the SS gear. Walter Heck did the graphics.

Most of the German boot makers like Hanwag and Lowa offer the choice of leather lined or Gortex.
Here's a double stitched example

Technology has moved on however, and from my experience the modern soled boots with rands are superior in comfort...
Any chance of some pictures ?
I had a look at an Aero Rocker in vintage FQHH at the shop in the Ace Cafe in London and the hide weight seemed normal Aero.

Gents, I'm selling this jacket on Ebay.
The leather is similar thickness to the vintage front three quarters horse Aero currently use.
Rare larger size 44 R.
No stitch holes or claims of provenance but it's similar to the one in the Eastman collection that does.
I have seen identical jackets...
Chaps, I've listed this jacket on fleabay with a realistic reserve

Er..no.
Horsemeat for human consumption is common in some European countries and the supply of hides good from Italy and eastern Europe.
A supple medium weight horsehide used for example in A2 jackets doesn't cost much more than cowhide.
Front quarter horsehide is more expensive.
