No, sales going outside of the EU can be sold vat free as long as proof of shipping is filed. Most companies exporting do this as it gives them more competitive pricing.
Yes, it's new I believe.
Kelso have updated their site recently with hi-res pictures. If you download them and zoom in you get a great close up of what they using.

Just to clarify my post above. I'm saying the Roughwear looks like goatskin, not that it is goatskin. These days thing like chemical etching can pop the surface grain out if required.
A couple of people have mentioned having goat Aeros tagged as 'horsehide'. It's difficult to imagine how that could happen unless an unsupervised trainee was let lose on it. Or perhaps a drinking session at lunchtime dulled the senses !
Over on the vintage jackets forum kiltie posted some...
I doubt it. When I was in Japan there were lots of stores with large numbers of Aero jackets on the rack. It's their biggest market. Probably a more profitable one too, no fussing around with custom sizing and countless emails with customers.
I would imagine Mark Moye's Ebay listing drummed up...
I've got a Lostworlds 'horse' sample that's 4oz. It's noticeable thicker (1.9mm) than my Aero FQHH 3oz sample. It's used on their Trojan bike jacket.
The ultra heavy steer being talked about feels heavier, less of a garment grade material.
Stanley Baker wearing an electrically wired Irvin in the 1957 film Hell Drivers.
This film is well worth watching as 3 actors who were later offered James Bond are in scenes together.
Patrick McGoohan, Staney Baker and way down the casting directors first choice list Sean Connery.

As I type the fields around my house in south Somerset are surrounded by sheep. Seems crazy to ship skins from the other side of the World given increased transportation costs and the higher value of the AUD.

Aero wrote: "having to compete with Chinese companies when we are trying to buy some of our horsehide supplies and all of our sheepskin, we are never going to be able to outbid factories with much lower overheads and wages than ours."
Last year a sheepskin supplier to RealMcoy went bust here in...
In the EU the VAT is levied in the country supplying the output not in the country of destination.
If somebody in another EU country is VAT registered they can give their number to the supplier and receive the exports without VAT.
When they file their VAT return this import is chargeable for...
Looking forward to it.
For most in the UK GW USN jackets must seem insanely expensive once import duty has been added.
As a rough guide, can anyone say how much in percentage terms this adds to the price ?
It's very rare to have perfect information in a market that's why things like arbitrage exist.
Go into a GAP branch in London and you can find an American company taking advantage of this. The prices are shown in Sterling and Euros. Most people without a calculator at hand are likely to assume...
Nope. I was in Oxford St. just yesterday and a large clothing chain had the items tagged with the VAT inc. price and bellow that the price ex.VAT
What is not allowed is to advertise or price something in the shop with only the ex. VAT price displayed.
BTW. I'm VAT registered, as are ELC and...
Nonsense ! The VAT content is normally shown on receipts for more expensive items, unless of course, the vendor is bellow the threshold for VAT registration.
Or, a UK website showing both prices

Many of those prices are insane to British eyes at least !
