Thanks...I agree with you. Though, FWIW, I have to admit I don't have a lot of firsthand experience with any of this stuff. I just repeat what I've read elsewhere and learned from others. :)
He doesn't have a store, but you can use the "view seller's other items" link on the auction I linked to above. Mr. Wooster generally only sells unique items in perfect or near-perfect condition, so he doesn't have things for sale all the time. He usually lists a few at a time, then nothing...
Hey, if I were a seller, I'd agree with you. But I'm just a buyer at this point, and a poor one at that, so Mr. Wooster's auctions just make me sad. :)
It was a popular style, yes. In the days when men wore detachable collars, there were literally scores, maybe hundreds, of styles available. Variations on the club were just some of the popular ones. For some reason, perhaps because it's rare today, the club seems to have become the collar...
If you right-click on the image and select "Properties," it'll give you the URL for the photo.
Edit: Never mind, it just gives you the thumbnail. That must be all he's uploaded. Here's the original auction...

Picked up this overcoat at a thrift store today, but it's just a bit to small for me, so I'm letting it go. It's a grey (black/white) herringbone SB overcoat dated 1939. It has two flapped lower pockets and a slanted chest pocket, notch lapels, and a center vent in the back. The buttonholes...
I'll keep my eyes open for any destroyed Daks trousers for you.
As for the lack of elastic defeating the purpose, yeah, sorta. The non-elastic tabs still let you adjust the waist's fit by a couple of inches, to allow for weight fluctuations and such.
I believe that on the original DAKS design, the tab was attached to elastic that ran inside a cloth tunnel on the back part of the waistband. It looks like the tabs on the LE trouses go the opposite direction, and I don't think they're elasticized.
Picture of the original Daks waistband:
My understanding is the same as AlanC's. Button stance refers to the placement of buttons on the jacket generally, which includes both their position on the jacket and their distance from one another. Higher button stance=shorter lapels and less shirtfront/tie showing; lower button...
Well, I agree with you. I'm generally in favor of a small, limited government. But to be realistic, there has always been government intrusion, and past forms might be quite shocking to people today.
For example, suppose you had lived in the 18th century. If your neighbor's house was...
I think the guy who invented this is going to make a lot of money. Not because I think it's a particularly great idea, but because he's getting a lot of publicity. It's been all over the media; he was on Fox News and David Letterman yesterday.
