    Show off your vintage desktops!

My vintage desktop I couldn't resist.

    Single breasted peak lapel

Why such large pocket flaps on an otherwise skinny suit? And overlapping flaps? Looks goofy, in my opinion.

    On the Beat

I live in Washington, DC, so police activity is nothing unusual in my world. Hardly a night goes by that several police cars don't go screaming by with lights flashing and sirens blaring. For the most part, the police are just part of the background and I never notice them--they're just...

    Single breasted peak lapel

It's on the short side, to be sure, but I like it. Then again, I'm more tolerant of short coats than some here. As long as it isn't exposing half your backside or more, I'd think it's fine.

    Show us your suits

Fletch, I think that would look great. It's actually a bit less eye-assaulting than a complete suit in that blue, which I like. :)

    Concealed Weapons and Style

God forbid one should forget to put on the safety when wearing that thing.

What's wrong with Ralph Lauren these days?

What Marc said. You can't buy Ralph's bottom-of-the-barrel Chaps or Lauren suits on 50% clearance at a discount store for that cheap.

What Is The Strangest Thing You've Ever Seen?

    The Mad Hatter bank robber

Most banks' security policies dictate that they give 'em the money and let 'em go, no fuss. Banks are more willing to lose a few thousand dollars than have a customer or employee killed and have to deal with the financial and legal repercussions of that. The bank my brother-in-law works for...

The Regular Customer, The Usual Order

Closest thing for me is a somewhat regular stop at the Starbucks right outside my Metro station. Grande light-roast coffee and an apple fritter. But I've cut back, as it was thinning my wallet and having the opposite effect on my waistline. :)

Best wishes and farewell to one of the most well-read, intelligent Loungers around!

What's wrong with Ralph Lauren these days?

A fair number of people, largely on the coasts. New York, LA, etc. Lauren is going to do whatever makes more money for him and increases his status as a designer. If he could serve those ends by catering to the vintage-repro market, he'd be doing it already. He certainly has come closer...
