On Sunday I had the chance to visit a few antique shops. We happened to end up at King Richard's in Whittier CA. In the far, far, back corner a friend and I spied a mid 1920s Majestic radio set... then I was looking at a HUGE armoire, with a touch of an English Louis the XVIII style, exquisite...
Well, I spliced in a bridge rectifier, turned out not to be as strong as I needed. I have found one at another place that will work but, just have to splice it in and maybe have a capacitor wired in some where to filter the power from AC to DC.
Very interesting piece! I wouldn't be surprised to know that GE did export goods to other countries. The cage is very interesting seeing it starts out as an "S" cage then goes into a cross towards the center... the color looks to be GE "Pullman Green" and the blades are the same shape as GE...
The original post is interesting, a steam powered helmet... Reminds me of the Rocketeer in some ways. ;)
If one rides a motorcycle, and if one lives in a state that doesn't require a helmet, I would say wear a leather flight helmet with goggles... or a top hat with goggles... that surely be the...
Surely! If you are unsure about the safety of the cord, then it will have to be replaced! It's really quite simple to replace a power cord. Just unscrew the three screws at the bottom plate (as long as they aren't rusted like mine that took two days to loosen with lots of WD-40. LOL) Remove the...
Well, the rule is, most Jazz or Big Band will always be on 10" when talking 78rpm. Some have made it to 12"... not many but, Benny Goodman's "Sing, Sing, Sing" is on a 12" 78rpm.
All of those are amazing... some I haven't ever seen or known about... the Esquire album is off the hook! Great...
Look at the monster I have created!!! lol Hoover, I wonder if there's a way to contact the company and if this conversation would interest them? How there are a handful of people still using and restoring their old cleaners... I wonder.
Never plugged it in??? Well, if the cord looks straight (without breaks or snags) and the brass plate under the switch says AC or isn't stamped DC, plug it in and give it a chance! Also, if you check if the blades spin freely, I would say you have a working fan... also, you may also check the...
Wow Bobby, those are great posts! I'm really enjoying these pages you're posting with directions and such... the handle on the 425 is beautiful! So hard to find any Hoover post 1930 that has the original handle in good condition!
Keep'em coming! Love it!
Ya'll goin' to hate me....
Scored this early GE oscillating fan this past Sunday at Rose Bowl... Paid next to nothing for it!
This guy is DC! This is most likely towards the end of the DC VS AC battle that Edison had with Westinghouse.
This I'm taking is a converter of types...
He's right! A blurb from an original 1927 Hoover Ad.

Yes, the same one! That photo was taken before I replaced the bag with the proper one! ;)
Thanks, both work very well! The Crosley is the rarest of the group!
