I'm still considering the green squatter, though they seem rarer.
I also noted there is a green CEO.
However, I'm figuring a gray Campdraft might fill my hat needs better than another green.
All I know is, nothing out there compares to the Akubra quality.

Al Gore doesn't worry me.
I remember too many winters in the 70s and 90s when we had temps dip to minus 10 and lower for weeks on end.
I'll take this weather any time.
Jacket and fedora weather ... and it's just about right.
You can go outside without it being painful.

Mike,
I would really like to try a straw homburg this season if I could find the right one. I just think it would be fun.
I have considered the whole straw derby deal, but I can't decide.
I will try to remember to hollar the next time I'm going to Jacks and we can try to meet there.

I keep being tempted to put mine in a "high C" shape, since that is what I do with most fedoras, but I have it in the "Crystal Skull" crease now and will leave it that way so it's a little different from my vintages or my other Akubras.
Besides, it just looks good with that center crease and...
Wow!
Alex, that is so cool.
How do they keep the paint from chipping when the felt flexes?
Perhaps it would be a hat of limited applications, but it is surely one of a kind!
Looks good on you, too ....

Years ago I was a TV commercial spokesman for a steakhouse over a five-state region ... just a part time gig ... and I had a woman call me at the office one day and say her son was supposed to have put together a history report for that week and wouldn't I be willing to let him borrow the whole...
This last summer I tried one of the new Stetson colored straws in a blue/gray mix and really liked it ... poly straw, but it wore well and stayed nice looking.
I think I'll get a similar one in their green mix this year.
I wear a lot of Aloha shirts when it gets much over 80, and the colored...

I remember seeing postings of you with some fine lids, I agree with the guys here ... list them in the classifieds.
I haven't sold any there, but I've bought several and made some friends along the way.
God bless and hang in there,
Sam
You need to differentiate between whether you want a packable hat or a dress hat.
I've had a lot of "campaign" hats that have been used as pillows, packed in haversacks, kept in trunks, used to fan fires ... all sorts of things I'd never dream of doing with my Art Fawcett Fedora.
Sure, you...
I got to interview the country-swing group "Riders In The Sky" several times and when we were sitting around jaw-boning one time, I asked a couple of the guys how they kept their classic western hats safe while traveling ... we had been discussing the busy schedule they had of both over-the-road...
When I looked at this hat on Etsy, I noticed the "flaky" look to the sweat. It looked to me like you'd need to pay for a new sweat first thing, unless it was a perfect fit, and it would not have been for me.
It also looked like the brim needed to be reshaped, but that's just me.
I can't see...
Don't know how rare it is.
Over the past 40 years it seems like 7 to 7 1/8 is something you can't swing a dead cat without hitting.
Now, a 7 1/2 Packard, in wearable condition, that would be rare.

Think about it in hat terms ... especially now, with the rapid growth of "antique malls" where people throw together all their garage sales inside a building and then pass off their junk as a flea market.
How often have you passed by one, even gone in, seen all that stuff and figured "Man...
Why don't you just recrease it with a lower crown?
Wet the hat down good and shape away.
Check the Roy Rogers video on Youtube. It shows you how to mold a western hat into about anything.
Sam
Collecting seriously since 1974.
I have no idea how many times I've heard someone who is supposedly in the antiques, collectibles, vintage clothing line suggest they just usually have floods of fine fedoras, homburgs and derbies coming through their shops ... just don't happen to have any...
