Found this on the net today, it appears that Johnny Weissmuller son want his loincloth & medals returned from a museum, so he can pass them onto his children.

If Johnny himself truly donated the items, they should stay put. End of story.

What next, Da Vinci's heirs will be screaming for the return of "The Mona Lisa?"

Exactly - if Johnny Weissmuller had wanted them to go to his kids and grandkids, he would've given it to them. I'm sure he left them plenty of other things, and it's one loincloth out of dozens & dozens, I'm sure. He wanted them on display at the museum and that's where he donated them.

"They have no legacy, they have nothing of their father's or grandfather's." Whose fault it that? Grampa gave away a loincloth & some medals - what happened to whatever else he had? What about memories and family photos and so forth. What kind of legacy is it coming from his son? "Here kids, I got this stuff of Grampa's back from the museum." "Cool - this'll bring in a mint from Ebay and Sotheby's!" Why are they waiting 23 years after he died, too, to make this claim?

And Happy Birthday Cheeta!:eusa_clap :cheers1: :eusa_clap

UPDATE - It was a completely bogus claim from Weissmuller's son & the son's wife - when the will was checked, all the swimming memoribilia was indeed left to the museum. The son had terminal cancer and died shortly thereafter.

I know this is a little off topic, but just read about Linda Christian passing.

Very sad, during my 1970s long school summer hols I used to watch Linda Christian on TV in the Johnny Weissmuller Tarzen films
