+1 for American Classics for Eastman. The only places I found that had Aeros in stock were John Simons (only 1 or 2 jackets though), and Ace Cafe (not sure if they're still doing the Aeros), and it's a bugger to get to if you're not driving or riding. Good luck!
I emailed Vanson and have been told olive and black will be standard colours, it's not armoured and availability is around 2 months (can be ordered now).
Great looking jacket, a nice mix of the Chopper and Comet and one I'll be keeping an eye out for once they become available.
The more I look at it the more I want it, if they make it available with pockets for armour it will be perfect.
Great looking jacket mate, thanks for sharing. The grain on that leather is phenomenal, is it heavy but soft? It looks to drape like some heavy elk / deerskin jackets I've seen. You wear it well too, I hope you enjoy breaking it in :)
Hi Carrie,
Could you please tell me the sleeve and back length of the Vanson Chopper, and if one can be had with longer sleeves if necessary (similar to a PLU-3)? Also, is the fit tighter than a PLU-3? I've got a PLU-3 size 44 that is a little big, and an Aero CR in 42 that is perfect (has 28"...
Has anyone found a good way of getting the Horween Chromexcel out of light car seats? My brown Aero cafe racer transferred dye to my light grey leather seats, and nothing I've tried so far has helped...
Back on topic, I have a blanket over the seat now and drive in my jacket, I agree it helps...
The Sheene looks awesome; I was always torn between trying to slim down a Highwayman or get a Cafe Racer with a collar, it seems the gap in the market has been filled. I'd like to see one of these with a removable mouton collar.
Hi Carrie,
There's some great looking Aeros in this thread, well done! I've seen something that's piqued my interest in another thread, and I've got to ask; are you able to source brown Vanson PLU-3s?
Thanks in advance!
Matt
Hi, great looking jacket and fit! I've got the same one in black, I'd LOVE one in that brown. Is it made in the US or El Salvador? I wonder how one would go about acquiring such a jacket...
I noticed this especially with my super heavy steer cafe racer. If you stand side-on in front of a mirror and stand up straight you'll see the leather across the back of the neck crease and form a big roll / wrinkle. In a more relaxed posture this disappears, and to be honest I don't find it...
I've tried a number of their jackets on, the fit actually suits me better than a stock Aero highwayman or halfbelt, as the designs, though similar, have been slimmed down somewhat to avoid the boxy shape that people harp on about.
Quality of workmanship was excellent, as would be expected...
Interestingly the steer Chronexcel brown jacket I had was much more brown than its FQHH replacement, which has much more prominent red/copper undertones. I much prefer the new one, thankfully!
I suspect this has more to do with the batch rather than the hide, as I would expect the horse and...
I've seen a jacket on here in the last couple of months that had the full brown cord lining, I can't put my finger on it right now but the owner was apparently pleased with it.
I'll see if I can dig it up if he doesn't chime in first.
Sloan1874, as with the whole situation we only have one side of the story.
This thread is rapidly heading in the same direction as the Alexander Leathers thread, and we know how that ended.
