Agreed. And I hope those who've never met or dealt with Giles give him the benefit of the doubt and don't just form an opinion based on what Alex has presented here.
In my experience Giles is first class all the way; I don't know the specifics of what's happened with Alex so can't comment...
Gabardine is not sticky or grabby at all in my experience, and is my preferred option for the sleeve lining. Having said that I am sure cotton drill is just as good, just not quite as dense a fabric; I'm yet to hear of anyone wearing out the sleeve linings though.
I agree that double layering...

+1 for Scott Willis. I've got 3 of his belts and a horsehide wallet, and they are top notch. I ordered directly through his site (dontmournorganize.com), and his belts are VERY reasonably priced and great service direct from Scott. I paid $265 for the 3 belts and wallet all up (~$65 USD per...
Have all the hides come from Horween? It did cross my mind that besides procuring steer in place of horse could horsehides have been sourced from any other tanneries?
I believe the Chronexcel gives a distinctive finish so should be distinguishable, but I'm no expert.
Hi and welcome. The storm cuffs are standard on the Highwayman, but it seems popular to ask for this to be removed when ordering the jacket, as it is less restrictive (with watches etc), and unless it's really cold it's not entirely necessary (in my humble opinion). The alpaca lining is not...
I've only handled Aeros, and as mentioned above they seemed pretty soft even when brand new.
I don't think the fit (in the body) is too far off, but would certainly be trying on the 40 to see which feels better. As you've already mentioned the sleeves are much too short, but it is a lovely jacket!
How does the breaking in differ with the steer and the horse? My insanely thick brown cafe racer has broken in much quicker than I thought it would; with weekend wear only over the past 2-3 months it has softened immensely. Holly thinks it must be steer, for what it's worth it weighs 3.32 kg /...
Wow, that is big! I'll send you an email about my FQHH cafe racer that I bought in July...
I remember at the time I was told Will had a special 'super duper' thick batch of brown FQHH, which sounds ominous in retrospect.
Sweet looking jacket, and I think the fit looks spot on. Now you just need to take the tags off and commit to wearing the crap out of it to break it in. Should only take a few years, enjoy!
I'd love to see your new jacket, and I think photos would do just the opposite in terms of people calling you a shill, as you put it.
Welcome to the forum, by the way!
As did I.
Anyway, I appreciate that Aero are doing all they can, and I didn't intend on sounding so disparaging in my earlier post. The fact I had an IH order within 3 weeks of delivery then I went to the back of the queue remains frustrating, but at the end of the day it is only a jacket, and...
It should be remembered that the Aero/IH collab customers were still Aero customers, as were those who placed an order for a standard(ish) Aero through Iron Heart. Legalities and other issues aside, there were numerous customers who effectively had the door closed in their face despite in good...
I haven't, as I thought it might be presumptuous. I know Holly has been a regular presence around here recently so hopefully if there's any good ideas posted here they might filter back.
I was disappointed to see that Aero is no longer offering this option, due to being unhappy with the design of it and working on a new method of attachment. Hopefully Ken comes up with something soon, if his previous efforts are anything to go by I'm sure the new design will be fantastic...
This thread has reminded me about the Cafe Racer I should have had delivered this week in time for my 30th, but will now be arriving mid-January thanks to Aero disregarding all outstanding orders placed through Iron Heart, even if the order was for a 'normal' non-collaboration jacket, without...
Thanks, that's useful. So the buttons are seen onto the jackets collar and the mouton slips over the top and buttons through, is that right? Without the mouton you'd just have 2 buttons at the back which would be hidden except when the collar is standing?
Interesting (but not surprising) that this thread has been hijacked into another ad for Insurrection.
Any photos of Highwaymans with detachable collars to contribute Wade?
Interesting about the olive green gab, Will refused to use it in mine point blank as they needed it for the B10s or something and just used black without asking for my preference. Maybe yours was made since the recent changes up there...
