Hi, Ken,
Could you comment on the stiffness and thickness of your hat? I read the old-friend narrative of your eBay listing, so does that mean soft and pliable? The only thing (of similarity) I have to compare it to is a PB of about 2 years ago. Could you relate your comments to that hat...
It would scare me to death...well, no, not scare me, but I can't think I would ever want to cut off that signature edge. Know what I mean? I was just curious if Cavanagh even ever made a hat without some treatment to the brim's edge, be it the Cav edge or ribbon binding or something else...
It really is lovely. So this is a fifties hat probably? It goes against the trend, though, towards smaller brims and crowns. Is it possibly a carry over from the forties? No matter. It's quite nice regardless of age.
Did Cavanagh ever make a raw edge? I guess the Cavanagh edge is raw...
It is good discussion (although I need to make this my last post and get back to the shop). Movement, to me, describes cultural recognition and embodiment by society. I think that's what I mean. Like, when does a fad quit being a fad and become a movement? Or are they the same thing? A...
Oh, and as far as music being timeless, let's say that music from the (pick a decade) is all you ever listen to. This is probably true in some of our cases. Regardless of what is being recorded in 2005, the music we currently enjoy is our "now", even though it is not contemporary. Then there...
Well, like I said. I probably need to digest it a bit longer. Not unlike the lunch that I just finished. But I hold to those initial thoughts.
I do think that folks probably spend as much time trying to be unique as they do trying to fit in (to whatever).
You know, why is it that we (people in general) have to have a word or label or classification for absolutely everything? It's just a thought, not a dig at Eric. Maybe I can answer my own question with - We are defined (and limited) by our vocabulary.
Words are so glorious. Overused...
I trust you've queried the folks over at Club Obi Wan about this. You'll get far more responses than you can possibly read at one time (I exaggerate...a bit), and they all like their own jackets and are more than happy to tell you which is better, etc.
My personal experience - I bought the...
You know, I originally said, "Time." And I hold to that - for myself. This is a case - like everything else in life - that boils down to the individual. What is the case many times is us wanting someone to tell us what to do. It makes our decision-making easier. Most of the time, we know...
You know, Root, you could run a few of those perfectly-sized wonders down to San Diego, oh, say around April 20th or so. Just leave them at the front desk of the Marriott Marina hotel... ;)
You know, what's amazing to me is that you are doing this. I mean, here's something you really wanted to do, and you're doing it. And you're how old? No matter. I think it's awesome and inspiring, and maybe the impetus to get some of us (well, me) really moving on some "dreamy-types" of...
