    Burberry olive windowpane suit, 40R

Thanks. Sometime soon I'll have to take pictures of a couple of pairs of my shoes and do a post about antiquing.

    Burberry olive windowpane suit, 40R

This is a Burberry London suit in excellent condition. Burberry's made in the USA suits like this one are made by Hickey-Freeman, so you can be confident of the quality. Fabric is a lovely medium-weight olive green mini-herringbone with a blue and orange windowpane or overcheck. Feels like...

    The Palm Beach suit thread

I vaguely remember someone here saying not to use OxyClean on wool because wool is a protein and OC can break down proteins. Is that right?

    Milanese Cuffs

Eh, facts are such pesky things.

    TWO ORPHANED JACKETS FOR SALE

For some reason, striped jackets always look just like orphaned suit coats to me.

    What are you wearing today??

Huzzah! SVB is wearing a pocket square, and he looks GREAT! Well done, Stanley, and well done to the kind seller who included the bonus item. ;)

    Milanese Cuffs

Also known as turnback cuffs, portofino cuffs, and cocktail cuffs. Semi-recent thread on them here. I had one that wasn't too expensive, from P. Diddy's "Sean John" line of clothing. Absolutely hated it.

    Cool (But Sold) eBay Stuff

Oh, yes. I'd be more than willing to look a bit odd if I were in his shoes.

    Cool (But Sold) eBay Stuff

That guy must look odd toting various pairs of shoes around New York to take pictures of them.

    Pinstripes - how bold?

If I recall correctly, that suit was actually made from vintage cloth.

    Pinstripes - how bold?

Yep, the sleevehead is the upper part of the sleeve where it attaches to the coat body, and "rope" is the term for when it's slightly raised above the level of the shoulder line. Small amounts of rope can be achieved by pressing the inside seam allowance into the sleeve, and greater amounts...

    Crazy Italians

Perhaps...but the men he's shown sporting that look, short or not, seem well-dressed enough that it's not likely to be an accident.

    Pinstripes - how bold?

Good point. What's the difference between a chalk stripe and a rope stripe? And, speaking of ropes, why does one of your shoulders appear to have a roped sleevehead, and the other not?

    Allen Edmonds burgundy brogues, 11.5B

Price dropped to $20 shipped. I want to get rid of these. Reasonable offers entertained.

    Crazy Italians

Probably the fact that he sees a lot of Italian men doing it, and not a lot of others.

    Crazy Italians

Agnelli generally wore barrel cuffs, with his watch over them. This (at least the one on the left) looks like a French-cuff interpretation of that style. In any case it smacks too much of different for the sake of being different, which is never a good thing when it comes to men's style...

    Pinstripes - how bold?

There were some pretty bold pinstripes around back in the '30s--probably the equal of anything that City boys wear today.

Alan, is that tie a knit or a grenadine? It looks good.
