Some of the very, very best stuff around. Doesn't go rancid, won't rot stitching and I've seen it used on boots, jackets and tack which were decades old and were as good as new. Seriously good stuff. Sadly I think me and Paddy are the only ones who use it round here.
+100. If it's a new or...
That's excellent Shangas, and best of luck finding out more.
Love the old estates round Toorak, one of my best mates lives just off St Georges so have spent many a day poking around there and my wife and I were often up at the Swedish Church there where they have a lot of festivals for the...
"American Sniper" tonight at the flicks. One of the most intense films I have seen and I would imagine one of the best depictions of modern asymmetric warfare.
Boys and girls, wise words to live by: wear the hell out of your jackets and wash your jeans if they're getting on the stinky side.
It's only clothing after all ;)
I have an Aero Barnstormer which obviously has buttons and no probs whatsoever. Mind you they are so well stitched on you'd need plastic explosive for them to come loose.
zhz, there's no perfect or ideal A-2 fit, just personal preference. If you look at photos from WWII there are a myriad of fits dependent on jacket size but also the genetic shape of who is wearing it.
Yours is slightly larger fitting than Dav's in the arms and torso (but that also could be...
You really do save a lot Dude. Not only on barber fees but you don't need any wax, gel, pomade, etc. It's a piece of cake to do too. I wouldn't go back to any other kind of haircut.
I have a buzz cut, a #2, 3 or 4 depending on my mood. I love it, no stuffing around, have a shower, get out and I'm done. And I do it at home with a Wahl set of clippers so I save a stackload of cash not having to go to the barber. Win win situation ;)
It's a good looking jumper but over 200 quid for a piece of knitwear is too rich for me.
As I said in the other thread Paddy, glad you made it out alive but you must have been completely hatstand to even entertain the idea of doing it ;)
Perfect fit and superb looking. Nice one Dav.
The sleeves look great to me. Wearing a jacket like an A-2 with knitted cuffs after wearing those with normal cuffs does feel different but yours looks bang on to me, and you've even got a bit of extra length there in the sleeves which will...
Both natural and navy "submarine" jumpers were issued in the RN. Although I haven't seen it absolutely confirmed it appears that the natural was more often issued to officers in the RN whilst the navy version to non-commissioned ratings.
Actually the idea of the RAF wearing the natural ones in...
Just to be pedantic, these jumpers were actually originally RN, and were available in natural wool colour and a dark navy. The RAF early in the War issued the wool "frock" jumper which was a tremendously long thing although the RN "submarine" jumper of this length was also available for issue to...
One of the reasons why so many wartime A-2s look so bloody good is because they were worn constantly, both on the ground and in the air. They were rubbed up against cockpit and aircraft sides, twisted and pressed by parachute and/or cockpit harnesses, they were snagged on switches and catches...
As they would say back home, "sweet as bro" ;)
Absolutely beautiful looking jacket and as the multitudes have already opined, the perfect fit.
Wear and enjoy.
