Ok, a couple of ideas about this ring.....
The engraving on the sides and in the back are traditional Mexican native symbols, most likely Nahuatl (Aztec). Since "Made in Mexico" and not "Hecho en Mexico" is engraved on the inside, he may have purchased it from a US based novelty ring company...

Yeah, once at a local flea market, a buyer was loudly haggling with a vendor back and forth. Finally the vendor said "I know you work for Ralph Lauren and you can afford it!"
The buyer didn't say anything, he just opened his wallet and forked over the cash.
These are cool jeans, but I'm not really sure they are Fedora Lounge Appropriate. Sure they are selvedge, and it is great that they are made in the US; but nothing else about them, neither in design nor presentation, speaks to the type of vintage aesthetics cherished around here.
I was told never to button the bottom button so as to not look like a department store mannequin or catalog illustration. Yet, as noted, I do have some two button single breasted suits and jackets that just hang weird unless both buttons are buttoned.
