I finally went and found my own Stratoliner! I have wanted one for a while to go with my OR and found this one. It has a 2 1/4 inch brim and although I think I need a larger brim the light tan color (almost gold) was just too tempting. According to the dating Stetsons thread I think it is late 50s to early 60s. Great condition. It had some strange, circular sweat looking stains in even intervals around the ribbon but an application of corn starch and some brushing took care of them. The sweat is very soft and it almost feels new.

Hello,
I am new to this site but I thought someone here might know about the age of an old Stetson hat I have. It is a Royal Stetson Stratoliner, 3X beaver quality, I know it is old just from looking at the size tag it appears to be made of paper or cardboard and reads Stetson 3/8. I got this at an estate sale for $10 which I know is a great deal but I was wondering how old it is and how much it might be worth, if anyone has any thoughts or knows of a good resource for finding this type of information I would appreciate the help, thanks

thanks, I will try to post some pictures, although I think it might take me a while as I am having some trouble trying to figure this site out, it is quite different from what I am used to, posting pictures etc. seems rather difficult.

Upload your photos to an external site such as photobucket, flickr, etc and look for the tags. Cut and paste them, and viola.

When you reach 15 posts you can use the board's built in photo upload.

Mid to late 1950s is my guess. If there is a clear plastic crown liner, anyway. It sort of looks like one, right? I think that is the era, anyway. Hopefully others will correct me if I am wrong.

Hello,
thanks for the info, yes there is a clear plastic liner at the inside top of the crown, is that an indication that it is from the 1950s and not 1940s? I have seen some for sale on ebay that look very similar that were listed as 1940s (of course they could be mistaken) in most cases they are asking at least $200 for them, are these hats really worth that much? I got this at an estate sale for $10!!! I am trying to figure out how much of a deal I got.
