Orvis Caldo Panama $44.40 all sizes as of 8/19 one more week

BTW, I actually own that same hat. I bought it a few years ago in London at a shop called Eco-Age. It's branded Pachacuti but it's the exact same hat. A decent lid; firm but not stiff, with a back woven brim, grosgrain sweatband and a simple ribbon. I think I paid around $100.

    Show us your SHOES !!!

Functionally speaking: The minor damage that you now have or the fix required if the leather continues to tear will not really have an adverse affect on the wearability of the shoe. Aesthetically speaking: There are gents who would shy away from wearing shoes showing damage or an obvious...

    Vintage shoe store.

In the same vein, there was a story in the news recently of a long shuttered car dealership that was autioning off its 50+ year old inventory of "new" cars.

Anyone else looking forward to sweater weather?

Fall is my absolute favorite season but my enjoyment of it is always tempered by the realization that winter is near. My disdain for winter has more to do with the dearth of sunlight and lack of vegetation than the actual elements, which I often find invigorating.

Vintage Suitings: Discussions of, and sourcing modern equivalents, etc.

The textile manufacturers, cloth merchants and tailors I have talked to say that today's stuff contains far fewer defects than the stuff made back in the day.

Vintage Suitings: Discussions of, and sourcing modern equivalents, etc.

Yes, you are wrong. There are many oldtime cloth merchants who will say that the high end stuff available today is superior in quality to the best from the days of yore. Now, comparisons of aesthetics and weight are another story.....;)

    Oxford Bags

I read an interesting quote by Coop the other day concerning his inclusion on a best dressed list: "I don’t know a darn thing about dressing. I just trust in the Lord and keep my shoes shined.” Yeah, right......
