A new one coming, possible private purchase by the khaki lining, needs a good oiling, talon zipper works that looks to be a late 30s mid 40s talon, knits are a bit ratty apparently but its in shipping so will see when it arrives, anyone recognise the style/cut? It didn't cost me a kings ransom though, and label is missing

I am not an expert. Very nice jacket and does appear to be A-2. However, is the knits, zipper and lining are original to the jacket then it is a post WWII. The knits are consistent with late forties and fifties. Additionally, A-2 had a different color and type of cotton lining. Lastly, the zipper. Those were used post WWII.

The VLJ forum members are very knowledgeable. I believe they will be properly described the jacket much better than me.

Thanks for sharing with us.

Looks like late 40s talon, likely civilian A-2. Quite a few makers make these post-war civilian A-2s. There is one on yahoo auction now.

As a civilian post ww2 it has vintage value to me not historical, as such I'll go to my go to leather repair guy and replace the ratty knits with a good replacement set of mash ones

You are correct. The knits can be easily repair by you. Not that hard. No sewing machine needed. Several videos online on how to sew leather. There is a member here who sell excellent knits. He in past did restoration work. https://www.ebay.com/str/sheeley8yv5?_pgn=1&_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l161211&_tab=shop

Good luck with your project.

Cheers Blackadder, I was thinking the same, I got it for 20 euros from buyee so like I said, never broke the bank
Nice. I was thinking about the one I posted. I have an issued A-2 that mostly hangs in my closet and thought about buying that civilian to wear.
