I saw Napoleon back in 1980 or so...full orchestra, split screen, coloured film (the tricolour split screen effect). Pretty spectacular and truly film as an art form.
It was Peter Weir's Gallipoli, however, that left me gobsmacked, as they say. Left the theatre quite speechless.
Hard to believe it never won any award. Both Caine and Connery felt it was one of the best they ever did. It took John Huston about 20 years to get it onto film. When he first tried to make it, he wanted to cast Humphrey Bogart and Clark Gable as Daniel and Peachy. Would have made an...
Being 6'1" I find a lot of scarves to be on the short side. For quite some time I've wanted a decent, long white silk scarf...goes so nicely with a black leather jacket...but I've only been able to find those little short things that tuxedo renters sell. The other day, however, I found one...

The "tebilized" reference on the Tootal muffler seems to refer to an anti-creasing process that came into use in the '40's.
Toronto does, indeed, seem a good place for scarves...
I find that if I'm wearing a coat, I wear a scarf. Living in Canada, that means 8 months out of the year I can wear scarves! Never thought I'd be speaking the praises of a cooler climate! I find the scarves really complement the fedoras and caps quite well.
