Ok, that suspender one? Want. Maybe sans suspenders, but the high-waisted skirt is so cute! Don't know if I'd be able to pull it off, but I'm going to try. Added to super long sewing list...
I'm glad you gals like the site! I just love some of the big shots she has found of some of the movies. When Marie Antoinette was coming out, I'd just go and drool over pictures. Hehe.
Varying condition, I think all are complete, but some covers have either tears or discoloration. Their fashion spreads are really neat. The Vogues have their covers separated and are very well worn, but fun for ads and articles.

Wow. This looks awesome.
You can definitely see the modern influences in costumes and makeup, but it looks really creative. Costumers guide has some neat photos. I want her rick rack skirt.

Dress forms are great, but there's no comparison to your figure. We aren't all perfectly symetrical like a dress form, which is why we still have to get ready-to-wear clothing altered sometimes. I'd say save up for a dress for for draping if you want to make your own patterns, or an adjustable...
Those are so cute! I love your photo, too.
I also got the thrift store urge today, and found quite a few things, but what I got for myself were two little dresses just like this- the one pictured and another in white. They're probably from the 90's, but they're the closest I've found to...
Still going through my pattern stash, so here's a few more. Some of my very favorites are up now, and some more coming, hopefully.

NRA Eagle 30s Jumper

That Advanced Style blog is really neat! I added it to my blog list. Thanks for linking to it!
You're definitely not too old for vintage. My mom is 60 and she loves mixing vintage with her everyday wardrobe. If you like it, go for it!
WOW! NEAT! Thanks so much for posting this! I think it's funny how Ben says to say "oy" and this says to say "hey". Must have been the Americanized Arthur Murray version. lol
Oh, that looks like so much fun!
I'll have to bug Matt about Big Apple stuff- it's a dance from '38 from here. All I know is that Jimmy Stewart and Jean Arthur did it in You Can't Take it With You, but Matt said they did it wrong. [huh] I found this video, but I don't think I can move as well...
NEAT! I should have just asked you in the first place! lol I've wanted to learn this and The Big Apple for a while, but haven't. Matt has done the Big Apple but doesn't remember how it goes. I'm exited to try these new dances! I love group dances, but I haven't been to many 30s or 40s dances...
Hiya! I've been meaning to figure this out for a long time, but does anyone here actually know how to do this dance? I first read about it in a Vogue book I have about the 1930s, and know it was quite popular in the states in 1938. Anyone know anything?
Here's a wikipedia article with more...
Although it was sold, it is quite possible that it continued under the ownership of the new buyers. Coats like this didn't come into fashion until the 1930s, so it probably was under the same name but different owners. It says on Wikipedia, here, that the name was changed in 1982, so it...
