Here's the February 1940 ad:
and the last reference for Tootal "Croydon" ties that I can locate occurred in this ad from January 1947:
No mention of Croydon ties after that date.
I’ve been doing some research in one of the local papers (Toronto Star).
The first ad I can find for Tootal was for fabric in April 1939.
The first ad for Tootal ‘Croydon’ ties was in February 1940. This ad appeared in September 1943:
The first reference I can find mentioning "Trebilized"...
Great information, Two Types! Thanks for posting it. Interesting that Tootal established a branch in Canada. I've come across three Tootal scarves (well..two scarves and one labelled as a 'muffler') all of which were made in England so I'm assuming that it was a distributor of some sort...
I certainly try not to take the world that seriously. A smile and a laugh goes a very long way to take the edge off. If all else fails, like Melissa, my home acts to insulate me and provide some balance. It's full of art...paintings, prints, sculpture (no reproductions)...and books, and...
Toronto East General on Coxwell. Lovely old place....was born there. My son was, as well. I sometimes wonder what else one would find in that place. I had occasion, once, to go into the basement...what a place! I'd sure love to be able to poke about down there.

I've been using a lovely old Edwardian stick and I found that once you...

They even...
Wasn’t too sure where to post this one. I had occasion to go to an opthalmologist today. His office is in a local hospital…one of those great old places that was first built in the 1920’s and has been added to ever since. Now it takes up a entire block.
I was sitting waiting for my...

I have to thank you for posting your photos, W-T. I picked up this hat a number a years ago at an estate auction and it's become one of my favourites. It has a faint stamp inside that I've never been able to figure out but thanks to your photos I think its the same Made in Ecuador stamp. Made...
