That one looks like it was a box that was intended for stores, not the consumer. Looks like its far too roomy for a single scarf. What sort of vintage is the scarf?
At last! I thought I was alone! The only problem with Longmire is that they seem to be squeezing a two hour movie into a one hour TV show. Every episode seems to end quite abruptly.
Today's the 75th anniversary of that nugget from the Golden Age: SPAM. Originally marketed simply as Hormel Spiced Ham, it was renamed and re-released on July 5th, 1937.
So, in the words of an ad from the time: "What's the treat for dinner? SPAM!"
I miss your posts MisterCairo. They were always interesting. I was wondering what happened to you. Given your explanation above, I can certainly understand your reluctance to play an active part in the FL. I would react in the same way.
"Reality TV" is a blight. I eagerly await its demise...but I'm not holding my breath. It has, unfortunately, really mastered the "lowest common denominator" concept.
One of the things I always look for when I'm trolling thrift stores is signed books. I was excited to find this one today. I've been hoping to find a signed copy of this one for quite some time.
I only have three Tootal items: a muffler and two scarves. Here's the labels.
First the muffler...I suspect it's the oldest.
And the scarves, in order of suspected age.
Recent finds of vintage china, courtesy of local thrift shops:
A nice Grimwades chintz tray. I have a whole tea set in this pattern and this will be a perfect tray for the milk and sugar.
And our fifth (maybe our sixth) set, in this case 8 place settings of Grindley's "The Clairmont"
I can't seem to access that 1939 paper you posted. Did it actually mention 'tebilized'? If not, then the earliest date is your 1945 reference. The earliest date I can find from Canadian sources is 1948, and the latest is 1957. My Tootal muffler has a 'tebilized' label.
Love Cry-Baby! It seems to be one of those films that no-one I know has ever seen...together with Dead Man, The Man who wasn't there, The Beast...I could go on.
But back to cult films...Army of Darkness seems to be quoted a lot on FL.
