Marc, I take it you have focused your attention primarily on U.S. caps of the golden era. I think of the British variety "Ivy cap" a tweedy affair with really no panels to speak of. Is this thinking correct in what you've come across?
Mario - classic 'do, as in hairdo! You may not remember but you posted a picture of Waits in the beginning of this thread and, indeed, there is a resemblance there. Also evocative of Eraserhead!
I agree with Mario on two things. I wouldn't like someone grabbing my hat, but probably wouldn't mind so much given the scenario in the bar he described! I also think Tom Waits is one helluva fedora-wearer (note another example in my avatar.)
Your post seems a bit trollish, but what the heck, I'll reply. I don't line mine with foil but I wondered if you had thought about lining yours with lead? Or maybe uranium 238? At some point it would stop the comments altogether. lol
