    Cute Vintage-y Shoes

I agree. They're well made, all leather (no man made made linings so your feet can breathe), and last for a long time. They also have nice supportive foot bads that mold to your feet. A godsend for us folks with problem feet!

    Jewellery & Suchlike

Wow, even neater. I have one piece of porcelein jewelry myself. It's a Wedgewood necklace that we think my husband's great aunt bought on a trip in the early 60s. It's a big wedgewood blue heart-shaped pendant with a white cherub on it. I don't wear it often because I'm not really a fan of...

Leatte - Your collection is so pretty! I'm amazed at how white and bright all of your rhinestones are. A lot of the rhinestone pieces that I have have started to dull over the years. I especially like the dogwood blossom brooch, it's lovely. I'm a sucker for any costume jewelry that has...

    Valentino - I just don't get it...

I've also read that he wasn't very smart. The term "himbo" comes to mind. I wonder how true this is?

    Steampunk, Dieselpunk, etc.

This reminds me of a radio that I have: It's an old shortwave radio. I haven't plugged it in for years, but the last time I tried I was able to listen to BBC Radio and some ships at sea.

    Jewellery & Suchlike

Here are some of the brooches that I've collected over the years: Some are antique, most are vintage. Some are costume, some are not. Some items of note - the brass flower at the top right-hand page is teens/1920s era from China. Underneath it, the red star is all real garnet stones from...

    What's on your dresser?

Here's mine: The embroidered runners with lace edges were made by my great grandmother. The milkglass lamps were found in the crawl space of my husband's great aunts garage. Ignore the ugly, too small lampshades. They're a temporary fix until I find better ones. On the dresser are a...

Celluloid, Bakelite, Lucite and other vintage plastics

Here are some of my other lucite 50s bracelets: The white clamper is a confetti lucite with tiny sea shells in it. The bracelet in the middle isn't lucite, but it is also a 50s era plastic. The bracelet is made of tiny pineapples strung together. It's a favorite of mine.

Celluloid, Bakelite, Lucite and other vintage plastics

I just got a new digital camera and took these pics while playing with my new toy. Here are some of my bakelite babies: The brown clamper on the left I bought at a church sale for 50 cents when I was a little girl many moons ago. To the right of it, the end of the day bakelite bracelet has...

How old is too old ?

Nothing looks trashier than a grown up women who does her clothing shopping in the juniors section! The clothing is so... *searching for the right word* ...CHEAP and DISPOSABLE looking. I think they get a certain amount of satisfaction from the fact that they can still fit in the clothing...

    1930s/1940s SHOES! for the ladies

Personally, a shoe has to be practical and comfortable for me to pay a lot of money for it. I refuse to pay $100+ on a pair of shoes that I'll only wear occassionaly. My personal peeve is that I also have a wide foot, but a narrow heel. By the time I get a shoe big enough for the ball of...

    Loungers' Pets

How do you tell them apart? They look like twins. I'd have to put different colored collars on them to be able to tell them apart!

    question about eBay

I agree with Clara. Also they are preying on people who may not read the entire auction listing carefully. They are hoping that a buyer will see the BIN price and not check the shipping cost before they purchase an item. The buyer thinks they are getting deal, and by the time they finish the...

    Steampunk, Dieselpunk, etc.

dhermann1 - If you ever get the chance, read the League of Extraordinary Gentleman comic book that the movie is based on. It's way better. I'm not even a comic book fan (The League and Sock Monkey are the only two comics I've ever really enjoyed), but I still like it very much.

    Harold Lloyd

I love to watch Harold's film Speedy for the same reasons. Most of the movie was shot on location in the streets of New York city. The chase scenes especially provide some lovely eye candy in the background. They also film on location at Coney Island. It's like looking through a portal to...
