Twitch, I agree. I've never liked paying huge amounts of money to stand in lines or to see fake versions of real things. I'd rather take the money I would have spent and use it to see the real things. Also, I think the what the whole Disney brand has become in general turns me off...
Hmm, I wonder what guns go best with formal wear for the Queen Mary? Maybe I should start a new thread. lol
Spitfire - I always like your photos. Did you hand tint them? The work is very nicely done.
Dixon,
I couldn't have put it better. I've just always done my own thing. I think to degree all of us have or else we wouldn't be posting on this board.
My mother told me recently that even when I was a child I always knew what I wanted to wear, read, do etc. and she couldn't do much...
Isaac and my hubby have the same exact hair! In fact, Isaac looks a lot like my husband when he was little. My husband still grumbles over the fact that he was never able to have a pompadour because his hair is too curly. lol
That looks like a Victorian settee to me, I don't think your antique guy knew what he had! It's definitately not 20s-40s, they style is all wrong for that. Even better, because it enabled you to get it for a steal. The apolstery looks new and the cost alone to reapolster something like that...
lol Thanks. I can't hang that picture up because I've never been able to recreate that hair that well again. Looking at the picture would just make me angry because it would taunt me. lol
I'll try to remember to take pics of the clip tonight. I'm going to be alone tonight - I've got a...
Well, that red is "enhanced" a bit. ;) My hair is naurally red underneath but I put dye over it to cover up the forest of white hair that's growing on my head. My natural hair isn't nearly that vibrant. But it's nice because once the dye fades a bit, it matches my natural hair color and you...
I'm so jealous of straight hair because my hair always looks like a bird's nest! The secret to the finger waves are this weird, antique spring-loaded hair clip that I found in a bag of metal curler rods at a garage sale. I've never been able to find another clip like it. An entire set of them...
Photo evidence of the one magical day my hair did I wanted it to. This day has never been repeated. lol
I have extremely full head of curly hair that tends to stick out every which way except the way I want it to. My husband says I look like Phyllis Diller when I wake up in the...
I second this. Formal dresses (especially 1930s ones) and sarong patterns go for a lot of money. I sold a 1950s sarong pattern for $90 on eBay once. To get a good idea of what kind of patterns sell well, surf the vintage pattern listings on Ebay. Interesting hat and purse patterns sell well...
Imoldfashioned - Can I come stay at your house? ;) I think we have very similar taste in furnishings, etc. I'm a good houseguest... just don't ask me why my suitcase is so much heavier when I leave. lol
You know, after I typed this I had a vision of all my 30-something year old friends all layed out on the ground with roller skating injuries a'la the famous scene from Gone With the Wind. you know the scene where they show all the injured soldiers and the camera keeps panning out so you keep...
This reminded me of my own birthday parties as a young girl, except we always had roller skating birthday parties. Who here spent the weekends of their youth roller skating? I know I did. Roller skating birthday parties were the coolest - maybe I need to have one next year.
That dumpster dive happened almost 15 years ago. You just don't find things like that any more in the garbage. (Well, you still can but they are few and far in between - not like the days of yore)
imoldfashioned - I love your dressing table. The style is very regency-era looking to me. Is...
Yeah, you're right. Some things don't change much over time, do they? Just look at all the vapid pop stars/young actors in the papers today.
As for myself, I've never been much of a fan of pretty boys. I'll take Keaton over Valentino any day. My husband and I were out shopping the other day...
