Wear it anyway. There are far more egregious fit errors. Kudos to you for picking it up.

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

One thing to bear in mind is that the battered hides seem to get abraded in the construction process more than other hides. The leather gets hammered and clamped quite a bit, and this leaves its marks. I don't consider these to be faults - the neck joint and underarm vent holes (which must...

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

The whole jacket will look uniform within a month. It'll all get creased up very quickly.

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

I don't think that's mismatched, and would wear in. It's battered and creasing is normal. I had areas like that on both battered seal and battered tan jackets.

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

I think that just about any mismatching (unless it's a huge mistake in colouration) will wear in and become more uniform over time: mismatching would be less visible in battered seal, I'd think, but even when Aero states that there's actual mismatching on a jacket, it wouldn't bother me or I...

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

    A thing of beauty.

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

I don't know if it's mismatched- the colour varies from what looks like black-brown to chocolate brown. I like the hide because it has that range: I don't about mismatching (and am quite relaxed on fit). If the battered hides are mismatched, I can't tell. Go for Aero's seal goat - it is...

    Field Leathers

It's strokes for folks. If it was discounted and a nice enough thing (which it is), I'd forgive the length and wear it too big. I've found that when people get used to someone wearing something over time, it comes to suit them -if informal- unless it's hugely oversized or too small. With...

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

It's always a good 'un when someone's got 'Freedom' done and the tattooist has decided that freedom is 'free-ness' and tattoos the customer with 'cheap'- there are loads of examples on the net of some almost abstract errors. Nothing beats 'Chinglish' on t-shirts though. Like Cocteau Twins...

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

The camera gives it a bit more of a yellow underglow (not a word, but I like it) than it has to the eye. It's a fairly matte dark brown a bit like dark chocolate with a lighter tone underneath and has a waxy hand (the battered tan I had also had a slightly waxy feel to it). It'll get...

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

Tattoos where someone's cobbled together Kanji that make absolutely no sense as a phrase are my favourites. :) Aero battered seal cafe racer today. This is a new jacket that I haven't subjected to extremes of weather particularly frequently. I've carried bits of wood around in it but have...

I need a hat like that. Heck, I need three weeks of an existence like that.

    Field Leathers

It looks great. Over a sweater the sleeves length will be less of an issue (although I'm quite happy with what others might term a more 'Willis' fit [Google 'Willis Surrogates Jacket for example]), although it looks as if the weather is being too kind where you are for layers! The Michigan in...

Face Masks And other DIY projects

People are not well-suited to staying inside for weeks on end. In China, you can have a large-scale lockdown as the culture and political environment are rather different to many other places (this isn't an approval or a condemnation, it's just an observation) with much greater compliance. In...

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

It took a decade, I think. And crazy weather, bars both great and small and very hard work and play. Battered hides are probably better for the liver commitment these days.

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

Aero Highwayman in brown FQHH. It's really smashed up and well-creased as a result of being worn through various weathers and really bright sunlight for prolonged periods. Some of the shoulder patterning is great:

Aero Goatskin. Does it build a patina?

And all my jackets, whether they have patina, wear or fading, all have character. Just to make that pellucid.

The side adjusting strap on my Highwayman keep coming loose

Mine used to do that (the side adjusters with a roller- first picture), but they 'settled' in a loose position and then stayed that way for probably seven years. I don't really clinch them tightly, though. A 50s HB and a Maxwell both have the divided adjuster, and barely move (picture two)...

Aero Goatskin. Does it build a patina?

Here are some contrast shots. The first ones are Aero's Seal Goat - there is pebbling in the lower back and on the creasing at the wrist. The elbow seam is flattened and smoother. The colour has remained uniform- the jacket has been worn in typhoons, extreme heat, etc. and is a few years...

    CV, a new realisation....

Women know when you are doing this. They know every distraction/misdirection/outright lie/outrageous exaggeration/limp rationalisation that you are making a) just before you are going to make it and b) when you are making it. They tolerate this behaviour in men as one deals with bold...
