When did the Slide Toward Casual Begin in Earnest?

Here's Frank Sinatra Jr's take on the subject... ..after all, he should know, right!? "I rue the day that the Beatles were unfortunately born into this world. They are, in my mind, responsible for most of the degeneration that has happened, not only musically, but in the sense of youth...

When did the Slide Toward Casual Begin in Earnest?

I grew up in south Florida in the '60's. Most of the people in my socio/eonomic class wore cut off jeans with tee-shirts and flip-flops or no shoes at all. I found it appalling then! But Florida being the tropical climate that it is, it was difficult to dress up in any manner without being...

    USAAF Cap Devices

Here I've posted a number of 'crusher's from the same era - note the slight differences in the 'cap device' of each hat - some similar - some same - including some embroiders eagles most likely from the Philappines. -dixon cannon

    Is it just me?

Oh, man can I relate to this!!! My wife (who collect shoes!) thinks I'm nuts for buying new sports coats, hats and boots...and plimsols!! I have boot and plimsols that I've never even worn (yet!). There are certain styles that I just obsess over and I must have. Did I mention sunglasses...

    Weekend at War

Interesting observation HL. I have a little story to tell. I was at an event at a local airport one weekend. I got there early to have the pancake breakfast. I stood with an elderly guy in a crisp USAAF dress uniform. As we spoke I noticed his German accent. In the middle of our...

    Weekend at War

To those of us who didn't have fathers or brothers who fought in a war, but who grew up on Combat, Rat Patrol and Twelve O'Clock High on TV, these re-enactments are a way to act out a little of what we grew up with in fantasyland. It's not unlike those whose interest is in the American...

    USAAF Cap Devices

I notice my for caps all have curved wings, but to tell the truth, I really don't know the answer to why the difference. But I'm willing to bet we'll all know the answer in a very short time! See below:

    OT:Mac Photos?

YES! I have found the easiest way to resize a photo for Mac owners is to email the image to someone with a PC and ask them to resize it and email it back to you. :D (Oh man, I kill myself!!!) lol

I got the complete collection of '60's At The Beeb'. All the great bands that played live in the BBC Paris Radio Studios in Lower Regent St., London, 1962-1969. It is endless joy! :D :eusa_clap -dixon 'Rave Up' cannon

    Vintage Sunglasses

I wore glasse spectacles for years and my nose was always sore! Thank God for polycarbonate lenses. I notice if I were my Ray-Ban Aviators all day they (glass lenses - non perscription) weigh heavily as well. -dixon cannon
