NC Wyeth, father of Andrew, was one of my favorite artists when I was in high school art classes and had time to draw. Many of his paintings had very vivid outdoor imagery and lots of energy. One of my favorites was one of a caped Confederate soldier (guerilla?) in winter woods, looking back...
Haha! Both of those are alive and well here in the Southern Appalachians. Although I'll have to say in all my life I've never seen anyone swing or throw a cat. Toss, maybe, but not throw...
Another cat saying - "a cord of firewood should be stacked loose enough to let a squirrel run through...
I sure enjoyed these photos, Brent, thanks for sharing. It sounds like a very interesting life for someone who's not afraid of hard work!
No "taco" brims on any of those hats!
Yes, that's right. The bags wept through (I think they were cotton canvas?), and the air coming into the radiator cooled the water through evaporative cooling. I bet you'd have hot water in that bag if you didn't take it off as soon as the vehicle stopped, though!
That's a real loss. He was much more than an entertainer. He was a real man but still a gentleman, and he was a fiercely proud American. He will certainly be missed.

I know some cultures consider a visit from an owl a bad omen, but I think they are really amazing birds. I especially appreciate the great horned owls - lay their eggs in the snowy weather, and still tend them well enough to turn them into young owls. Their calls seem to be common here on cold...

I have an Akubra Adventurer, and while I like the hat in its own right, unless you have a very small head size the Adventurer will not approach the proportions of that hat. I'm fond of larger all-weather hats too, and have gone through a similar search. I agree with DH that focusing on a used...
This same thing happened in the “How far do you have to go to be a tourist?” thread a week or two ago. Folks living in places with their own social ills, throwing rocks at other folks. The self-righteous hypocrisy is wearing very thin.
