    Horse Racing 101

I had a friend that gambled whenever possible. If there was a poker machine, pickle cards, sporting event, you name it, available he would put his money down. I went to the horse races with him a couple times. He knew as much about the sport as anyone I knew, and he would buy a couple...

    Paging Dinerman: Stetson 'Special'

Robert, once again, fantastic information. Thanks for that! I had a lot of confidence in Dinerman's date call, but I was hoping to learn why. Your post was very helpful.

    Paging Dinerman: Stetson 'Special'

Dinerman, are you basing that on the black sweat? The size tag seems to indicate older, and possibly the liner as well.

What cigar (or pipe) did you smoke today?

Gawith & Hoggarth Kendal Flake in a Stanwell Zebrano rusticated bent Dublin. This tobacco is from a mason jar I sealed up on October 14, 2006 and it's really, really special with some age on it.

    Stetson Quality Experiment "Think Tank"

Thanks for posting the thread link! What do you make of Lefty's Avenue? It seems to be a totally different style with the same name as your hat and Douglas's hat. I realize you guys may have covered this ground previously, but your insight is appreciated.

    Stetson Quality Experiment "Think Tank"

Not odd, I guess I might have phrased the question differently ;) A better question might be, have you ever noted any exceptions?

    Post New Hats Here!

Yes, Spitfire, as a student of psychology, let me add you very much seem to be a hatperson! Maybe you find that unacceptable for some reason, but you not only bought the hat, you sought out a place to post your mug while wearing the hat!! And for the record, you wear it very well. Enjoy it...

    Stetson Quality Experiment "Think Tank"

And by the way, I meant to ask this the other day: What is known about the Stetson Avenue? I hadn't heard of that model prior to your recent posting.

    Stetson Quality Experiment "Think Tank"

This intuitively makes sense when you think about the retail perspective, and I'm not surprised at your theory since you're a Motor City guy;). It exactly matches the current car sales practice - you start with the base model car, and move on to increasingly luxurious, option-packed, higher...

    Stetson "Philly" Fedora

Thanks, Jimmy - I'm heading to the Think Tank. Yeah, I know Philly isn't a model and you gave it a name, basically because it didn't have one. I'm interested in hearing your thoughts!

    King of pop fedora (seriously)

The style is nice, and regarding the make - it is a wool felt hat. Nothing wrong with that, but it's best to know going into the deal. Wool will not withstand water and the elements as well as fur felt.
