Jimmy, I saw you referenced this hat in the "What Hat Are You Wearing Today" thread. I thought I'd add on to this one. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is the Philly an example I've heard you refer to before as an "unmarked" Whippet? I have one similar, but not as old that I've posted previously, and you commented as such. Here it is:

Apparently not every hat had a model name. Is that an anomaly? Did most have a name? Just curious as to your thoughts.

A couple of things...

First, just to be clear, I called my lid the "Philly" fedora simply because it came from the Stetson retail store in Philadelphia. That is not any kind of official name for the hat.

Secondly -- yes, in terms of specs, it certainly seems that your lid is Whippet-style.

In order to continue this particular discussion in a logical place, I'll respond to your other questions in the Stetson Think Tank thread. See you there...;)

Cheers,
JtL

Thanks, Jimmy - I'm heading to the Think Tank. Yeah, I know Philly isn't a model and you gave it a name, basically because it didn't have one. I'm interested in hearing your thoughts!
