does Food still taste the same as back in 1900 - 1920? or 1930's?

Of course my use of the word soda is very different from what was available back in the day. Today I have to search high and low for soft drinks made with sugar. The default sweetener is high fructose corn syrup and there is enough information out there to scare anyone away from modern soft...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

Watched a documentary on the controversial and influential writer/director John Milius. Even if his name doesn't ring a bell I'm sure most know his work.

    True..but what is everyone else's excuse? ;)

    Unappreciated masterpieces?

I absolutely agree with you Doc. Particularly the idea of instant access. I find little excuse to be uninformed when people have handheld devices with them 24/7. It appears the more information people have access to the less likely they will reference it. The gadgets that are supposed to...

    Unappreciated masterpieces?

I think it is unappreciated by the fact the general public apparently doesn't know the film. It's not often mentioned as a stand out in conversations about Kubrick. Heck, most don't mention it in talking about Kirk Douglas! Perhaps it would be better known if some kid turned a clip of the...

Lucky guys with money always say that. Here is my neighborhood.. maybe we can dig up the streets to grow corn and let cattle graze up Broadway..

Welcome to the Lounge. Agreed, it's a porkpie style. You can steam the crown on a fedora to reshape for the desired effect. Here is one of mine

Goat leather. How to get it washed?

I don't believe you are going to be able to make the leather less grainy. The grain is inherent in the type of leather and the tanning/finishing processes. Your best bet may be selling the goat and purchasing a jacket with the grain you want. Others with more experience may have other advice.

The Passing Away of John Erickson, Fellow Lounger and Friend to Many.

My wife was saddened to hear the news of John's passing. She remembered meeting John on the Queen Mary in 2006 and has good memories of the encounter.

"Mad Men" on AMC (US) - (Spoilers Within)

Agreed. I find I can 25-30% of a season and have enough of Mad Men. It's basically a well dressed soap opera with few redeeming characters. I find myself not liking anyone on the show. True Detective is a must see!
