Crew Cap find on ebay and possible historical link

I won this just last night. http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-50s-WRIGHT-SPORTSWEAR-Wool-Baseball-Hat-Cap-L_W0QQitemZ260243335682QQihZ016QQcategoryZ14065QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I could tell from the numbers that it wasn't a sportshat and given the vintage which looks close to...

Thanks, Douglas! As always, you present the best! Here's a funny for you: What do you call it when you crease the middle of the crown of a Stetson Playboy? A centerfold. ;) dean

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

Thanks, R! Frankly, I know it's just a red baseball cap, but it is vintage, and I am seriously considering future ownership of another fedora besides the grey Dobbs I still own. I'm still a thin ribbon man at heart. Vintage baseball caps are just cheaper, and right now cheap for me is good...

    New Indy Flick Poll

Liked parts of it. Not others. It was like an orange with seeds, you have the flavor and the annoying parts, too. Kept looking at Indy's fedora and feeling very happy for Steve Delk. The hat looked great even when it was being abused. dean

    Repro'd B-29/B-36 Crew Cap

Thank you, Tom. I think of you and your service in the Air Force when I mess around with these caps. I think some of Strategic Air Command with Jimmy Stewart was filmed at Carswell, AFB <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie"...

    Repro'd B-29/B-36 Crew Cap

The cap is soft leather with glossy finish. Thank you for your kind words, DC. i like to think of these efforts as a pleasant diversion from the standard here. dean

    Repro'd B-29/B-36 Crew Cap

Re-Worked as a reunion hat, minor changes Did a little hand lettering and decided it would qualify either as a cap worn during service,or reunion. Dropped the homestate "MICH" because I might redo it differently. The "41" would refer to the "victor" number of the plane. I would conider this cap...

InDcop, todays theme must be, "The Vintage Stops At the Brim"!;) dean

Rule of thumb for hat ribbons?

A pet theory I have on this involves ratios. If the brim is 1 1/2", a ribbon of greater width will probably not be as sucessful, i.e., I prefer a less than 1:1 ratio ribbon to brim or 1:2 more ideally, or less, on the case of an Open road which is traditionally 3/8" ribbon to 2 3/4" to 3"...

I Got The "Brim Too Wide" Blues!

Give yourself time to get used to it. No way is that brim too wide. dean

    pointy head?

Indycop and I agree. All of mine touched, and there's no hair up there to intervene, but after a while it feels like the only "right" way. dean
