Hurrah! I got one! And it's that yummy champagne pink color of vintage lingerie.
Oh and here's another shot of it:
I'm in heaven! And I also bought a lovely lavender paisley flannel to make one off a vintage pattern I just bought. I'll post pictures of it when I'm finished with it.
A-ha! For some reason I always pictured cold cream as more of mask. I'll have to try it.
I always think of those old cartoons or scenes in 1930s/40s movies when a lady runs out of the house in her dressing robe, hair in either rag curls or pin curls and a heavy layer of cold cream on her...
Thanks Honeydoll! These are absolutely darling! I bought a red one off of eBay awhile ago that I use for my stage make-up and such. But I also have one that I got as a "gift with purchase" from Nordstroms a few years back.
I really like the hat box style ones too. So cute!
I'm going to Walgreens to pick up some RIGHT NOW! I'll make sure to get the blue tin of nivea too--metal and not made in Mexico.
You ladies are the best!
Thanks an bunch!
Another quick Remix update:
So, I wore my first pair of Remix wedges (the Picaso style, which I can't recommend highly enough) all day for 14 hours and not a single blister. They were so comfy and looked great on with my rolled dark denim jeans and Pendelton 49er plaid jacket.
And thank...
OK--so you are telling me that you all use cold cream in place of a facial cleanser/soap? And then do you put on moisturizer--like and SPF or something afterwards?
I'm just fascinated and very willing to try this. I've only used cold cream to get off stage make up in the past.
This is a...
Well, I wouldn't say expert, but I did my thesis on industrial design in the 1930s--Raymond Loewy makes me swoon!
I wish I could truly claim expertise in knitting, but I'm not THAT good. But I don't have to be an expert to enjoy it.
Ha! I know what you mean. There was the most gorgeous vintage green silk dress from the forties on eBay that had the measurements of:
B-48
W-28
H-40
What the? I don't know how the original wearer could even walk down the street with those measurementst! But when she did she probably...
The best was that HUGE ring! A mere 12 carats. Oh my!
And the Carmen Miranda dress. Priceless.
And the commentator's comments were divine. My favorite was ""YOUR hair won't get mussed...at least not by the WIND" ;) Pretty cheeky!
Welcome booklover!
I think your screen name is lovely. And I think you'll really like the Lounge as well. Such great info--especially for hair.
Hmm... I don't know about the long hair. I think many 40s looks would be perfect for you, such as the Veronica Lake look.
I'm not sure if...
My problems happen when I fall asleep wearing them. I've ruined so many glasses in the past that way...
What a pity about not wearing berets and other rimless hats if you wear glasses. But I just throw caution to the wind. Afterall, I like my glasses. And my half dozen pair of vintage frames too!
The same thing happened to me! I picked out this gorgeous tiki/bali high fabric and just murdered the dress pattern. I felt lucky that I even managed to get a darn skirt out of it.
I want to sew so badly, but I'm in the midst of getting my house in order--painting one week, cleaning out the...
Sniped on a lovely housecoat
Oh the pathos! It was the most gorgeous housecoat ever. Sniffle sniffle!
Surely this is just a sign that I should get cracking and sew one instead. Bah!
Well, I just got the Remix shoes in the mail and I love them. All of them fit perfectly except for the red mary jane style, which seems to be on the small side, which is quite the bummer! So back they'll go.
But the other two--the green pair with the bow and the brown Picasso style shoe fit...
Hmmm... Perhaps I'll give the foam curlers a try. Just the whole curlers/sleeping thing brings back memories of when I was a little girl and my aunt used to put my hair in rollers Christmas Eve and they were those awful hard plastic ones and I would toss and turn all night only to wake to find...
Like Lizzie Maine, I remember seeing the trailer in January or perhaps even earlier. What got me was the more modern music--it gave a really fun fresh approach to the movie.
I hear Sophia Coppola did a lot of fun riffs on mix more modern elements into the movie. Supposedly Kristen Dunst wears...
