Comments You Get When You Dress Vintage

Last weekend we went to what was supposed to be a vintage fair, but didn't in fact have a lot of vintage and was quite craft-focussed. I wore a green Horrockses with polka dots, a cream hat, shoes and bag. As soon as I walked in I got lots of compliments from stallholders, had my pictured taken...

The Cleaning Clothes (vintage or other) Thread

I did handwash it, hung it to dry and ironed on the wool setting and it worked beautifully! Winter can come.

    Is "Retromania" destroying culture?

If you want to look back then you'd just be retro and wouldn't claim to be creating something new though.

    Show Us Your Purchases!

I recently bought these Clarks brogues and absolutely adore them, they are so comfy and dainty (even though the stock photo makes them look clunky, they aren't): I love them so much I also got the black and white, and may love these even more.

Comments You Get When You Dress Vintage

Hahahaha, that is priceless! I once went on a date with a guy who said he was going to cook me a meal at his place. He "cooked" a jacket/baked potato in the microwave and served it with baked beans. Made me feel so special.

Ooh, cake and lipstick treats, my favourite kind! What a tw*t the man is, but as they say, you have to kiss a lot of frogs and all that.

Comments You Get When You Dress Vintage

Oh, Miss Sofia, so sorry to hear that! I know of at least two ladies who have been in the same predicament in the last week, being stood up by dates. At least you know right off the bat that the person wasn't worth it, but I understand it is depressing regardless. It is his loss! Your outfit...

Miu Miu goes 40s for fall 2011

^I hate to even compare, but Topshop seems to have a lot of blouses just like this and in the same colour ways this fall. Maybe check them out. ETA: Something along these lines...

    Is "Retromania" destroying culture?

Some big claims, but I thought it was interesting to read nonetheless: http://www.salon.com/books/history/index.html?story=/mwt/feature/2011/08/05/retromania_simon_reynolds_interview

    Dita Von Teese

Well, I admit to being completely common and uncouth then, because I touch up at the table AND chew gum whilst wearing lipstick :)

    The Pencil Skirt

My favourite pencil skirt was a charity shop find and it's from H&M. I bought it used and have had it two years and it's still going strong.

    High Waisted Pants & Jeans!

Good luck, I hope they fit! I am just waiting until I can afford them, hopefully they'll still have them :)

    High Waisted Pants & Jeans!

They are denim with stretch, like that really dark indigo denim, and quite strong but comfy. They come in three lengths. They also have the high waisted style in a black corduroy, but for some reason the cords gaped at the waist on me while the sailor ones don't. Let me know what you think once...

    High Waisted Pants & Jeans!

I have now tried them on today and they are really great! They call them military jeans on the webite, but they really are more like sailor pants, with a straight leg and i a nice dark blue with a bit of stretch. Definitely on my wishlist now.
