Dark colored dress shirts (and other colors) in the golden era

My dad lived in CA from the 1920s until the 1990s and he was the king of colored dress shirts, often dark colored, during this entire period, very often worn with a light tie and a suit. I wear a great deal of dark colored dress shirts with lighter tie and a suit also, partly from his influence.

    Possible Suit Disaster?

It can certainly be saved. Stay tuned for suggestions. I don't have any, but I know that others do.

    Bizarre Vintage "Heat Massager"

Well, well, well, will you listen to Little Miss "I Passed The Bar Exam And Now I'm The Riposte Queen." :p ;)

Utterly patronizing. On that note, am I being overly sensitive to find the following expression also HORRIBLY patronizing?: "Hope this helps."

    Bizarre Vintage "Heat Massager"

Yeah, I know I'm opening myself (ouch) up to jokes by admitting that I just won this. But hey, it was uber-cheap (forgot how to get an umlaut) and the box is very funny. It's a vintage (apparently 1950s) "heat massager," year unknown, and the condition seems to be perfect. Good for "muscular...

But back to our regularly scheduled programming. Does anyone hate "sho nuff" as much as I do?

That was a lot of people killed, true: that's influential. But was the ideology influential? Personally, I don't think so. Kind of a flash in the pan. Plus, the ideology of fascism comes from Mussolini who was a fascist leader of Italy in 1922; Hitler was not appointed Chancellor of Germany...

"Here's looking at you, kid" and what might get you slapped

I'd have to disagree with you on the worthwhileness of those girls. Plenty of worthwhile women despise dorks, Lord of the Rings, harry potter, and Star Wars. I married one. Luckily, I hate all those things too (except old Star Wars, for which I have a soft spot).

Hat Flash Mob in Union Square, San Francisco, Ready Go!

I'll try to make it. You might want to inform the Art Deco Society. They are usually game for things like this.

The worst. People who use any specialized knowledge in front of people who are not in their specialized knowledge group are being at least moderately rude. The acronym thing adds absurdity to the rudeness. I also hate being at a party where two "hip" people my age (!) start talking about...

    What are you wearing today??

A most enviable suit, mike. EDIT: actually, as the arms are an inch too long for you, I think you should sell me that suit.

Yep. I'd say as far as influence goes, it's something like Confucius, Buddha, Alexander the Great, Augustus Caesar, Jesus, St. Paul, St. Augustine, Constantine, Mohammed, Newton, Marx, Darwin, Lenin, Stalin as the top 14, not in order of influence but chronologically. Too late to recount...

Oh, I didn't mean it that way. Sorry. I am not at all OFFENDED by CE, only slightly annoyed, since it only gums up the works when it's hard enough to get people to care about history and to get them to understand what happened. You have every right to use it, and some of my favorite people...
